S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl's first DLC expansion, 'Cost of Hope', will launch alongside its 2.0 update on August 20, 2026.

It's been a while since we last heard of STALKER 2, but after months of radio silence since the Sealed Truth update, GSC Game World has good news.

GSC Game World is releasing the first of its two planned DLC expansions for STALKER 2 on August 20, 2026, for |S, PlayStation 5, and PC via GOG, Epic Games Store, and Steam, and it will be called S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Cost of Hope.

In this expansion, you step back into the role of STALKER 2's protagonist, Skif, as he investigates a mysterious PDA signal that draws him into an epic questline that will run alongside the base game's story.

The Cost of Hope expansion will add new uncharted locales to explore, new allies and enemies to encounter, and new powerful weapons to obtain.

Additionally, this expansion will be launching with a free 2.0 update for the base game of STALKER 2, which will include new content, gameplay improvements, and compatibility with the latest version of Unreal Engine 5.

In the coming weeks, GSC Game World will share info on the content of the Cost of Hope expansion and 2.0 update, so stay tuned for further details. In the meantime, you can add S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Cost of Hope to your wishlists on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation digital storefronts.

Are you ready to return to the post-apocalyptic wasteland of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2?

The base game, STALKER 2: Heart of Chernobyl, received critical fanfare (including a 4/5 star review from us) for its engrossing and unforgiving open-world gameplay, intriguing story with multiple branching paths, and haunting atmosphere.

Yet it was riddled with game-breaking bugs, performance issues, and balance issues when it launched in 2024, which GSC Game World has spent the last two years eliminating along with improving its gameplay and adding new content entirely for free.

Now, with all the problems that plagued it at launch mostly purged and with the DLC expansion on the horizon, are you planning to revisit it, or will this be your first visit to the grim world of Stalker 2?
