Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 landed in September of last year, offering a hugely enjoyable cooperative action experience. A year of updates and fresh content later, developer Saber has now confirmed that it will be supporting the title for a second year.
To kick things off, a massive anniversary update will hit Space Marine 2 on September 4. This is described as the game's biggest update ever, bringing a new mission, a new PvP mode, a new enemy, and much more.
The Helbrute Onslaught PvP mode has players fighting to take objectives as well as a Helbrute, which is controllable to wreck the enemy team. Meanwhile, Strategems is a new PvE mode that changes every day with fresh dangers like enabling friendly fire or spawning Imperial Guards. There will only be Normal and Hard difficulty modes for this mode.
At the same time, the map Vortex is coming in as a brand-new Operation for cooperative play, and the studio is teasing a unique boss named the Mutalith Vortex Beast for it. A new map named Bridge is also hitting the PvP side, offering "diversified battles and multiple possible strategies" for taking out the opposition.
Other additions of the Anniversary update include the Power Axe as a new weapon, Chaos Spawn as a new Majoris enemy, and a whole lot of new cosmetic options.
As for the rest of the year, the studio is to bring a Techmarine class, even more missions, a siege map, and more enemies and bosses. Check out the Year Two Battle Plan image above for deeper details.
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2's Year Two also brings a second Season Pass with nine DLC packs that will launch through 2026.
