Report: Asus confirms it will officially be slashing graphics card prices come April

Over the last couple of months or so, GPU prices have been steadily coming down which prompted us to make a best graphics cards for 1080p gaming list to help our readers decide what's best suited for their needs.

And while AMD, Intel, or Nvidia haven't said anything related to this recent downward trend, Asus, in a statement to Tom's Hardware, has confirmed that it will be slashing graphics card prices by up to 25% on Nvidia RTX 3000 series GPUs starting April. Asus has attributed this to tariff cuts on U.S. imports from China.

Oddly, the Asus representative, who provided the statement to Tom's Hardware didn't mention AMD Radeon cards at all even though the Taiwanese firm is a vendor partner for both. So right now, we cannot confirm what happens to Radeon or the upcoming Intel Arc GPUs.

The rep has said:

As a result of the latest tariff lift on Chinese imports from the Office of the United States Trade Representative, Gamers and PC enthusiasts will see lower prices on ASUS GeForce RTX 30-series graphic cards starting on April 1st, 2022.

Lower prices will affect entry level GeForce RTX 3050 and RTX 3060, mid-range RTX 3070 and high performance RTX 3080 and RTX 3090 graphics cards.

Consumers should expect prices to decline up to 25% on different models throughout the springtime.

The latest March pricing data from German retail stores compiled by 3DCenter shows that Nvidia and AMD prices are now at the lowest since the shortage had hit.

Both AMD Radeon and Nvidia GeForce GPUs are now 25% over MSRP indicating that Nvidia's prices have fallen off a bit more steeply.
