Grounded 2 Hairy and Scary update delivers a massive tarantula boss

Obsidian Entertainment's survival game Grounded 2 hit early access just a few months ago, and already, its first major update is here. The aptly dubbed Hairy and Scary update has a big highlight: a boss fight with a massive tarantula. It also carries matching Tarantula gear, a more streamlined building system, and more changes.

Starting off with the boss fight, AXL is the name of the colossal tarantula that has arrived at Brookhollow Park. As the trailer below shows off, it's a tough fight even for the most prepared players, but rewards for beating it should be worthwhile.

"Defeating AXL opens up a whole new frontier of power," says Obsidian. "You can forge an imposing tarantula armor set, wield the devastating Tarantula Bow and Spear, and even decorate your base with spidery flair. From larger-capacity chests to flickering candles to the kind of throne Yoked Girth would envy, you’ll have plenty of eight-legged style to show off."

Changes have also been made to the grid system, letting players snap objects and building materials much more easily and with more precision. The construction radial has been replaced entirely too.

Buggy riders can also use the PEEP.R and Hot Pouch without getting off the insect. Meanwhile, a Praying Mantis armor set has landed for players wanting to sport a plague-doctor style while going on the offensive. As October comes in, Obsidian has included some holiday items celebrating Halloween already. This includes a new spooky ambiance across the park, candy corn replacement for some resources, and Trick-or-Treatery Buildings.

Alongside performance improvements and bug fixes, the update carries adjustments to crit multipliers, stunning, parries, armor set bonuses, mutations, and a lot more areas.
