Gigabyte breaks MSI's DDR5 overclocking record just two days later reaching 10,022 MT/s

A couple of days back, Gigabyte was able to set a new world record as it was able to overclock DDR5 memory to 5,011 MHz or 10,022 MT/s. The previous record was set by MSI two days prior to that when it had reached DDR5-10004 or 5,002 MHz. Hence, Gigabyte was able to beat MSI by 9MHz or 18 MT/s.

Gigabyte's in-house overclocking guru HiCookie achieved this feat using a single stick of DDR5 AORUS RGB memory on Gigabyte Z690 AORUS TACHYON motherboard. In terms of the CPU used, the Intel Core i9-12900K was in the socket during this overclocking run.

Meanwhile MSI achieved the previous record using Kingston Fury Beast DDR5 memory on a MEG Z690 UNIFY-X motherboard. Unlike Gigabyte, MSI was using the flagship Intel Core i9-12900KS Alder Lake-S SKU.

While these extreme overclocks are likely going to be unusable for everyday use cases, last year a Chinese firm called Netac did announce that it was working on such high-speed kits. More widely known manufactures like Adata have also revealed plans for making DDR5-12600 kits sometime in the near future.
