EA has announced its "final update" for The Sims Mobile, marking the end of an era for the pocket-sized version of the life simulation behemoth.

According to EA, the game will be delisted from the App Store and Google Play Store on October 21st at 1:30 PM UTC. After that point, you'll also no longer be able to find it with a search. The company says the only exception is for those who've already downloaded it. If it is in your purchase history, you can re-download it until the servers go dark. Oh, and all real-money purchases have already been disabled.

While the game will remain playable for existing users for a while longer, the servers are scheduled to be shut down permanently on January 20, 2026, at 1:59 PM UTC. Until then, EA has scheduled 14 final events to run, giving players a last chance to engage with the content. Here is what that final roadmap looks like:

Name Type Start Time End Time
Eerie Autumn Festival Pass Oct 20 Dec 19
Cozier Home Sweet Treat Showdown Oct 20 Nov 2
Wumple's Wishlist #1 Limited Time Quest Oct 27 Nov 3
Hallways Ready Treasure Hunt Nov 3 Nov 16
Wumple's Wishlist #2 Limited Time Quest Nov 10 Nov 17
Foxbury Institute Sweet Treat Showdown Nov 17 Nov 30
Wumple's Wishlist #3 Limited Time Quest Nov 24 Dec 1
Season's Greetings Treasure Hunt Dec 1 Dec 14
Wumple's Wishlist #4 Limited Time Quest Dec 8 Dec 15
Sweet Holiday Sweet Treat Showdown Dec 15 Dec 28
Wumple's Wishlist #5 Limited Time Quest Dec 22 Dec 29
New Year's Dock and Roll Treasure Hunt Dec 29 Jan 10
Wumple's Wishlist #6 Limited Time Quest Jan 1 Jan 8
Wumple's Wishlist #7 Limited Time Quest Jan 10 Jan 17

This shutdown is a complete step away from its promise back in January 2024 that the servers would remain online. At the time, EA stated the game would simply stop receiving new events and would instead cycle through old ones.

The Sims Mobile is not the only EA title getting the axe in January next year. It will be joining the BioWare-developed online multiplayer game Anthem, which sees its servers shut down on January 12, 2026. Anthem, released in early 2019, was a departure for the traditionally single-player RPG-focused studio BioWare.

The game failed to meet both fans' and EA's expectations, and despite an attempted rework (codenamed Anthem NEXT), support for the title was officially ended in 2021.

You also might have heard that EA itself is reportedly close to going private in a leveraged buyout. According to The Wall Street Journal, the deal is valued at approximately $50 billion.

The investors supposedly include Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF), which has been showing a growing interest in games, with stakes in companies like Nintendo and Capcom.
