CD Projekt has been celebrating the 10th anniversary of its wildly successful RPG The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt this month. While the celebrations are finally winding down for the title that has so far sold 60 million copies, the studio had one final surprise for fans: a game update. Announced today, there will be "one more patch" for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt that will bring cross-platform mod support.

CD Projekt RED will be leveraging the mod.io platform for this task, letting console players jump into community-created content for no extra cost. The news comes just a year after the company released official modding tools for the RPG, letting PC players create new quests, worlds, cutscenes, monsters, dialog, and much more to edit and expand on the game.

The cross-platform modding support will arrive via this final major update to The Witcher 3, though a release date has not been attached to it just yet. CD Projekt says the update will land sometime later this year across PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5. Following that, players will be able to use the mod.io platform to browse and install mods they want, all built by PC players, in their game.

"However, due to specific content guidelines and selection criteria for each platform, it may not be possible to bring every mod uploaded on PC to console," adds the studio. "Mods available on mod.io must also adhere to our Fan Content Guidelines and CD PROJEKT RED User Agreement."

Over on PC, players will still be able to use platforms like Nexus or Steam Workshop for their almost unrestricted modding needs. Find a handy FAQ from the developer regarding this update and modding over here.

Don't forget that CD Projekt and Xbox collaborated recently to release special edition controllers themed after The Witcher 3. Find more details about that venture here.
