Users are reporting a variety of different problems with the latest Windows 11 25H2, 24H2 KB5079473 update.

Microsoft earlier today released an emergency hotpatch security update KB5084597 to patch a network security flaw. This follows the week's earlier release of Patch Tuesday update for the month under KB5079473.

As is often the case with Patch Tuesday releases, users are reporting problems and bugs with this latest issue. One of the users on Reddit claims that the update can't even install and they can't seem to figure out what is causing the issue. Following which Windows is throwing a "0x80070306" error message, though these messages in themselves rarely help resolve bugs.

The user adds that they tried to fix corrupt update and system files using SFC (system file checker) and DISM (Deployment Image Servicing and Management) commands, but to no avail. The user also says they did many reboots in hopes of resolving the underlying bug.

On the same thread, another affected user has chimed in to add that they too experienced installation failure, and the system kept BSODing and blue-screening, and rebooting in trying to fix the update issue.

Meanwhile, aside from installation failures and reboot bug, on a separate thread some users say they are experiencing graphical glitches and other such related problems. One user adds here that they are experiencing system freezes and lock-ups, and that the only thing that seems to work is a hard reset.

Meanwhile on Microsoft's official Feedback Hub, one user reports that their admin privileges were suddenly removed after this update.

Microsoft, on its official support article for the update, states that it is currently not aware of any known issues. We could see the company document some of these problems later as it has been less than a week since the update was first published.
