Microsoft has released a new bug-fixing update for PowerToys 0.97, which arrived last month with big updates for Command Palette, a new tool, and more. In today's release, version 0.97.2, Microsoft focused on fixing bugs, crashes, and other issues in existing modules like Advanced Paste, Light Switch, Command Palette, and more. There are no new tools or features (except for one small update for Cursor Wrap), but there are plenty of quality improvements.
Here is the changelog:
Advanced Paste
- Fixed a crash in the Advanced Paste settings page caused by null values during JSON deserialization.
Image Resizer
- Fixed Image Resizer not working after upgrading PowerToys on Windows 10 by properly cleaning up legacy sparse app packages.
Quick Access and Measure Tool
- Fixed crash related to IsShownInSwitchers property when Explorer is not running.
Color Picker
- Fixed contrast issue in Color picker UI.
Command Palette
- Fixed an issue where some Command Palette PowerToys Extension strings were not localised.
Cursor Wrap
- Fixed "Automatically activate on utility startup" setting not persisting when disabled.
- Added option to disable Cursor Wrapping when only a single monitor is connected.
Light Switch
- Fixed Light Switch startup logic to correctly apply the appropriate theme on launch.
Workspaces
- Fixed overlay positioning issue in workspace snapshot draw caused by DPI-aware coordinate mismatch.
In case you missed it, Microsoft is also exploring an idea of adding another taskbar to Windows 11. The company wants to hear your thoughts about a dedicated toolbar for Command Palette for you to place various widgets, additional information, and more. You can check out its early concept here. Additionally, Always on Top, one of my favorite PowerToys utilities, might get a useful feature that allows adjusting the pinned window transparency.
PowerToys version 0.97.2 is now available for download from GitHub and the Microsoft Store.
