Microsoft has issued a small bug-fixing update for PowerToys 0.96. Version 0.96.1 is here to fix a missing module on Windows 10, resolve bugs in Advanced Paste, and fix issues with the Awake module.

Starting with the missing module, PowerToys 0.96.1 fixes Image Resizer, now working on Windows 10. Instead of opening a window with various size options, PowerToys would simply do nothing when invoked, forcing users to use other methods. Now, with the latest update, Image Resizer should work as expected for those still using Windows 10.

Next is Awake, a tool that prevents your computer from turning off or going to sleep. Version 0.96 has a bug where the module won't do its job in Timed Mode. Once the timer is over, Awake would keep the system running instead of turning off the monitor or going to sleep.

Finally, Microsoft fixed Advanced Paste, which, in version 0.96, received support for multiple local and online models:

    • Removed deprecated OpenAI Prompt Execution Settings properties, enabling the use of new models such as GPT-5.1 in Azure OpenAI.

    • Updated Foundry Local model parameters to allow for longer output tokens.

    • Fixed an issue where a model could appear unavailable immediately after being downloaded from Foundry Local.

Microsoft usually releases big PowerToys updates every month, so expect a new release in December. While we do not know what exactly Microsoft is preparing for the December 2025 release, the company could bring a new webcam tool that improves lighting during video calls and a dedicated module to control monitor settings, such as brightness, contrast, speaker volume, and more.

You can download PowerToys from the Microsoft Store or GitHub.
