OBS Studio 32 is now available for download, nearly ten months after the release of version 31.

Starting with what's new, the OBS team has added a basic plugin manager and an opt-in feature for automatic crash log uploads on Windows and macOS. For users with Nvidia hardware, the update brings Voice Activity Detection to RTX Audio Effects, improving how noise suppression isolates speech.

There's now a new chair removal option for Nvidia RTX Background Removal. The team also added experimental support for a Metal renderer on Apple Silicon Macs and introduced Hybrid MOV support. This addition enables ProRes recording on macOS and provides a more compatible HEVC/H.264 plus PCM audio option across all platforms.

With this new release, Hybrid MP4/MOV containers are now the default recording format for new profiles. To prevent future compatibility issues, OBS will no longer load plugins that were built for a newer version of the application. The default bitrate for streaming has been increased from 2500 to 6000 Kbps.

One notable removal is the --disable-shutdown-check launch flag. This command-line argument was used by some to prevent the "OBS did not shut down properly" safe mode prompt from appearing, especially when OBS was closed by system shutdown scripts.

As for bug fixes, this release brings over 15 of them, addressing a range of problems from hardware encoder issues to user interface glitches. A fix was implemented for the issue where Multiview could occasionally become blank. The update also corrects a problem where incorrect color range properties were being set for the AMD AV1 encoder.

Users on macOS will be happy to know that a bug preventing screen capture at rates higher than 60fps has been squashed. Another fix resolves a memory leak that occurred when trying to output a Hybrid MP4 file to a location that was not writable. SRT users will also find that reconnection failures and crashes from invalid URLs have been fixed.
