It appears that Microsoft is now updating the Media Creation Tool app (MCT) each month so that Windows users can quickly download an ISO for the latest release. This makes it easier to clean-install Windows 11, as newer builds require fewer downloads post-installation. This time, the updated Media Creation Tool app has been updated to download Windows 11 build 26200.7840, which is this month's Patch Tuesday update released on February 10, 2026.

Other than a newer Windows 11 build, the latest version of the Media Creation Tool app does not contain anything new. It is still the same, well-known app from the Windows 10 era, where you can download Windows images as files or "burn" them directly to your USB media.

MCT remains the go-to solution for those who want to install Windows 11 on a supported device without any modifications or bypasses. It gets you the vanilla experience with all the unwanted stuff like mandatory Microsoft Account, forced BitLocker encryption, etc. If you want none of that or you have an unsupported PC, you can use third-party tools like Rufus. Still, you may need the Media Creation Tool app to get the right image and then write it to a media with the necessary tweaks. You can learn more about that in our "How to install Windows 11 version 25H2 on unsupported PC" guide.

The Media Creation Tool app is available on the official Windows website via this link. If you have not checked what is new in the February 2026 Patch Tuesday for Windows 11 versions 24H2 and 25H2, click this link to learn more about the latest patches, security fixes, and improvements.
