Earlier this week, Microsoft released two new Windows 11 preview builds in the Dev and Beta Channels. They introduced improvements to File Explorer, search, and the ability to run a network speed test right from the taskbar. However, as it turned out, there is a known bug where users lose access to previously available features. Microsoft is now addressing that.

The company has updated the announcement posts and confirmed that there is indeed a bug with disappearing features on systems with the “Get the latest updates as soon as they’re available” toggle on. To address this, Microsoft released a new configuration update, which you can now download. Here is what the message says:

    [Updated 10/2/2025]

Known Issue: We’ve been hearing your feedback that some Insiders on Dev and Beta Channels have lost some updated features that were rolled recently rolled out to Insiders with the “Get the latest updates as soon as they’re available” toggle on*.

Insiders may see an update on their devices for “Windows Configuration Update” that is meant to address this issue.

You can find full release notes for builds 26120.6760 and 26220.6760 here. These builds have a shared code base with identical changes as part of this year's Windows 11 feature update. Microsoft released Windows 11 version 25H2 on September 30, and you can already update to it via Windows Update or using the updated Media Creation Tool app. Just keep in mind that the latter currently does not work on Windows on ARM computers, and Microsoft is investigating this issue.
