Microsoft continually updates its Edge browser to add features and test new capabilities through its Insider channels ahead of rolling them out publicly. Recently, we learned that the firm is integrating Skype Meet Now directly in the browser, and now it seems that it is also working on a dedicated hub for Progressive Web Apps (PWAs).

As usual, this news tip comes to us via our reliable reader u/Leopeve64-2 on Reddit. Essentially, Microsoft is building what seems to be an app hub for PWAs so you can have quick access to them. A screenshot of this implementation in Edge Canary can be seen above.

The "Apps" button in the omnibar can be enabled via the Appearances setting in Microsoft Edge. On launch, it will encourage you to install sites as PWAs so that you have quick access to them, as is visible in the snippet above.

However, once you have installed apps, you will see them grouped according to certain categories, as can be seen in the screenshot above. You can also change the view and sort apps according to different filters.

It is important to note that this change is currently available only in Edge Canary so Microsoft will likely polish the experience further before, and if, it rolls out the feature generally. Even right now, it is being rolled out in a control manner so not everyone on Edge Canary will see it yet. We don't have it on our test machines currently, but the dedicated PWA hub might be a decent option for those who do install their favorite sites as PWAs.
