The latest Microsoft Edge Canary build has received multiple features that further extend the Chromium-based browser’s ability to manage documents. The latest Canary build takes the browser’s version into the triple digits, and it comes with full-screen mode for PDF documents. Additionally, the browser can also hide all annotations within a document, as well as view its properties.

Edge has long had the ability to open PDF files within the browser and perform other document-related functions. Clicking on a link pointing to a PDF file opens the file within a new tab. Navigating within a PDF file has always been easy due to the on-screen menu. Moving ahead, Microsoft is enabling the browser to be used as a presentation tool or just help in reading PDF documents without any distraction.

Spotted by Reddit user Leopeva64-2, Microsoft Edge Canary v100 has a full-screen mode optimized for PDF files. The full-screen mode is often preferred for presentations. Selecting the mode ensures only the PDF document is visible on the entire screen; even the PDF reader toolbar is hidden. The full-screen mode is denoted by a diagonal bi-directional arrow. The icon is currently located within the PDF reader toolbar itself. The full-screen mode can even show multiple pages.

In addition to the full-screen mode, Microsoft is also testing a new menu that includes options to hide annotations and to view document properties. All the features are currently available in the latest Edge Canary build. As Microsoft is executing a “controlled rollout”, some testers could receive these features before others.
