How to disable Microsoft Teams from launching during startup

Faster way is to disable it from Task Manager's Startup tab. Or just uninstall it.

Also the images in the article don't seem to match what I see in Windows 10. Are they from Windows 11?

Yes the image below is from windows 11

In some cases it is not helping disabling auto startup. Teams starting unwanted anyway. 😁

There's a few ways to autostart things and Nanny Microsoft requires you to have instant access to this vital can't-live-without-it must-have software.

But seriously, uninstall or renaming the .exe should take care of this sucker. I don't remember what I've done to get of rid of this, but a search on W10 just now found two teams.exe in...

/Program Files (x86)/Teams Installer/

/Users/<account>/Appdata/Roaming/Microsoft/Teams/

I renamed these two now to "teams.exe GO AWAY MICROSOFT". Let's see what happens after October's Windows updates in a few days time.

OK, of course I can disable Teams, but the problem is that I have to use it sometimes. Should I rename always.. or write a script to do that. That's like stone age Windows 95 to get rid of a "feature".

Sorry, I assumed you weren't using it. Try Microsoft's Autoruns, it looks for autostarters in more spots than Task Manager.

Another thing to check (remove) from the .iso file (let's hope it will be easy).

Sure you can disable autostart and there are many options for that, but in the end they all do the same thing.
Of course, you can remove it altogether and nothing will happen, because it is absolutely unnecessary, completely independent, etc.
So far, it cannot be used for one very simple reason - in order to be able to use it, it is not enough that only you want to use it, but it is necessary that your friends and acquaintances also want to use it.
But when would they ever want another gadget that's no different than the thousands they all already have.
Rather, this new gadget is very basic and offers nothing new. And why would anyone start using it en masse? My brain doesn't get it.

But why not use online? It's there. It is available on the web, it is available as a widget, it can be installed as a normal program, it is added to the Office installation package, it is added to Windows 11.
After all, it is like mushrooms in autumn, all places are full of them.
So, disable or remove or set to manual launch or opt out of elder use the online version if needed. Choice is yours!

But still - you can use it only if your friends and acquaintances also agree to use it.
