Here are all the new features Microsoft added to Teams in June 2026

Microsoft Teams June 2026 updates add Copilot contextual search, faster file previews, chat improvements, smarter bot detection.

We recently covered all the new features that Microsoft introduced in Excel during the month of June 2026, and naturally, we now have a roundup for Microsoft Teams as well. Although we do cover some enhancements that roll out to Teams during the course of the month, it's usually handy to have a more detailed list too, especially if you're an active user of the software.

Starting off with improvements to the chat and collaboration experience, we have contextual search in Copilot so that you can navigate to your desired items through a natural language interface rather than searching via exact keywords. In the same vein, contextual search in channels now indexes files and offers advanced discovery features like various filters.

Previews for PowerPoint and Excel files will load much faster on Teams mobile too, also allowing you to open Information Rights Management (IRM)-protected files. The list view for "View more apps" has been updated so it is more streamlined and not too cluttered.

Another extremely handy feature is the restoration of context for Teams chats, which means that if you open a side panel in chat or alter its layout in any way, go to another chat, and then return to the first one, your UX will be retained. Other updates include a live meeting indicator for threaded channels in Teams on government clouds, improved grouping of muted and meeting chats, a Quick Share experience for images, and enhanced visibility and control over downloads.

Over on the meetings side of the fence, we just have better bot detection and branded reactions. Meanwhile, the following hardware is now Teams-certified:
