From targeted bot messaging to smarter meetings and UI polish, Teams gets a packed update that quietly reshapes daily workflows.

The month of May has begun, which means that it is time yet again to recap all the features Microsoft added to Teams in the previous month. We already published a similar roundup for Excel, which details several new Copilot capabilities that were introduced to the spreadsheet software. Now, it is time for Teams, which has a relatively lengthier change log, as usual.

Starting off with chat and collaboration, bots and agents can now be configured to send targeted messages to specific people. In addition, the Teams app bar has been simplified to hide labels describing an app by default, the overflow menu is less cluttered, and you can even hide the app bar if you don't really need it.

Microsoft has also introduced new quick view controls in the chat list, so that you can instantly gain access to mentions, followed threads, and more. The Engage app on mobile has been enhanced so that admins can assign expert status to certain users, which allows the community to find trusted answers faster. Admins now also have the option to quickly add or remove members in their Viva Engage communities with their mobile.

Switching gears to meetings improvements, consecutive interpretation with Interpreter agent is in public preview, while meeting transcripts can attribute transcription content to the person using sign language rather than the interpreter. In the same vein, spoken language detection is now automatic. Some users will also be pleased to know that Teams meeting notes powered by Loop are available now for instant meetings triggered via Meet Now, and the top video gallery can be resized to see more people, even when content is being shared.

As usual, several pieces of hardware are now Teams-certified too, including:

    • Cisco Express Install Solutions for Teams Rooms
    • Neat Express Install: TAA-Compliant Neat Board Pro with Heckler Stand
    • Jabra Express Install: PanaCast 40 VBS Bundles (LG displays available in: 43″ / 50″ / 55″ / 65″)
    • Jabra PanaCast 40 VBS + Control IP
    • MAXHUB XBoard V7 (Display available in 55″ and 75″)
    • MAXHUB Universal Console TCP33T
    • MAXHUB XBar V70 Kit
    • Barco ClickShare Hub Pro and Huddly ®C1™ for Teams Rooms on Android
    • Yealink UH42 / UH44 and WH68 Headsets

That's not all, though. Microsoft also has several updates in store for Teams Phone users and frontline workers, you can check out additional details here.
