The underwhelming announcement was made via an in-app banner.

Microsoft is slowing down in getting rid of Paint 3D.

According to leaker phantonofearth on X, Microsoft is currently displaying a banner within the app indicating that it will no longer receive updates and will be removed from the Microsoft Store on November 4, just a few months from now.

The screenshot, initially spotted by XDA Developers, doesn’t provide any additional information, and Microsoft itself has yet to make any formal announcement about the app’s demise.

Paint 3D was initially launched back in 2017 and was launched with the Windows 10 Creators Update. The app combines Microsoft Paint and 3D Builder applications to create a hybrid 2D-3D editing experience.

The app was briefly a replacement for Microsoft Paint; however, after a number of users complained about the different interface and missing features, Microsoft ultimately decided to let both Microsoft Paint and Microsoft Paint 3D coexist.
