This is why your Samsung Galaxy Z Fold has not received OneUI 8.0 yet

Samsung recently began rolling out OneUI 8.0 to its handsets through an over-the-air (OTA) update, and while the release doesn't seem to have major bugs, the company has reportedly stopped the rollout for at least one of its premium models.

SamMobile reports that Samsung customers have taken to social media to claim that OneUI 8.0 has been pulled for their Galaxy Z Fold SE. For those unaware, the "SE" in the model name stands for "Special Edition", which was made available in select markets, such as South Korea, late last year.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold SE was meant as an improvement to the Z Fold6 with a thinner and lighter form factor accompanying a larger screen. It also featured major improvements to the camera system, where the main camera was bumped from 50MP to 200MP, and Wi-Fi 7, but it did drop support for the S Pen in the process. This was likely due to a different display configuration that allowed a thinner handset at the cost of a digitizer display layer.

Although OneUI 8.0 seemingly does not have major reported bugs, some users in South Korea had been complaining about the touch screen intermittently becoming unresponsive after unlocking the phone. Since this causes a major break in workflows, it's likely that Samsung decided to pull the plug on the OTA rollout to iron out this issue.

Given that the Z Fold SE was made available in limited quantities, the bug in question probably does not affect a significant portion of Samsung's user base. While there isn't an indication yet about when the problem will be patched, the company is expected to resume rollout as soon as that happens. For the time being, it's probably better for customers already affected by the bug to wait for a fix rather than manually downgrading their phone, which can be a major nuisance too.
