Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra and Galaxy Z Flip 8 announced with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5

Both devices offer modest upgrades compared to last year's models.

After months of rumors and speculation, Samsung has finally unveiled the latest generation of its foldable devices, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra and Galaxy Z Flip 8.

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is the successor to the Z Fold 7, and the new "Ultra" suffix comes a Samsung has also unveiled a new foldable phone with a passport-style design and lower specs. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is Samsung's highest-end foldable for 2026.

For starters, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra has a 6.5-inch outer AMOLED display and an 8-inch inner display, both with a 120Hz refresh rate.

The device packs a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor with 12GB or 16GB of RAM. Users can choose between 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB storage options. A 5,000mAh battery with 45W charging also powers the device.

For the rear camera setup, Samsung has opted for a 200MP wide sensor, a 50MP ultrawide sensor, and a 10MP 3x telephoto camera. A 10MP selfie camera is also there to capture your moments.

Samsung has also pulled back the curtain on the Galaxy Z Flip 8. The device is not a massive departure from last year's model, though it still offers some upgrades. The Z Flip 8 features a 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, as well as a 4.1-inch Super AMOLED outer display.

The device is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processors, accompanied by 12GB of RAM and 256GB or 512GB of internal storage. A 4,300mAh battery with 25W charging is also found under the hood. As for the camera, you get a 50MP main sensor, a 12MP ultrawide sensor, and a 10MP selfie camera. Both the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra and Z Flip 8 launch with Android 17 and One UI 9.

Price and availability

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra will be available in Graphite, Cream, Violet Shadow, and Green Shadow. The Z Flip 8 comes in Cream, Graphite, and Pink.

As for pricing, Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra starts at $2,099, and the Z Flip 8 base price is $1,199. Pre-orders for Samsung's new foldable phones begin today and the devices will hit store shelves on August 7, 2026.
