After Deshpande shared his views on OpenAI’s work culture, his post went viral
An Indian origin employee of OpenAI has spilled the beans on the work culture at the company. Pranav Deshpande, an employee based out of India, marks the work culture of OpenAI as ‘manic’ in a social media post.
Pranav Deshpande had made a post on X (previously Twitter), mentioning that the work pace of OpenAI is crazy and he has never seen such a hard team grind.
On August 7 Deshpande wrote, “Really excited to be working with a stellar group of people at one of the most important companies today.
An honor and a privilege! One month in and the pace is manic. Never seen a team grind this hard,” in that post.
Netizens react
After Deshpande shared his views on OpenAI’s work culture, his post went viral. His post got several comments and around 197 likes.
While many netizens congratulated Deshpande on joining OpenAI, some of them commented on the work culture of the company.
According to the X post one wrote, “what actually building the future looks like” in reference to his post. In addition, another netizen wrote, “OpenAI is bringing literally… A storm on the planet”. Another X user @RTylerCrown wrote “Congrats Pranav, they’re lucky to have you!”.
Nandangokhale, another user wrote “Are you in a flour mill?’
OpenAI has a toxic work culture
Pranav Deshpande joined OpenAI one month back in the product marketing team to work on OpenAI’s API platform. Just a month after joining the company, Deshpande comes with such a statement!
A few days ago OpenAI faced a lawsuit by Elon Musk. The lawsuit alleged that CEO Sam Altman changed the company’s direction towards focusing on financial gain. It explained that as soon as OpenAI’s technology began to significantly impact generative artificial intelligence space, Altman changed its plans.
In February Musk had filed a lawsuit. The lawsuit mentioned that OpenAI ‘had strayed’ from its initial aim to develop AI for the ‘benefit of humanity.’ But surprisingly the lawsuit was withdrawn in June without any form of explanation. Back in 2025, Elon Musk has been one of the founding backers of OpenAI. He also claimed that he had invested around “tens of millions” of dollars in the AI company. He had even claimed to have appointed AI experts for the benefit of the company. But after stepping down from OpenAI’s board, things seem to be not going well with OpenAI.
