  • Linux Mint 22

Linux Mint is an operating system for desktop and laptop computers. It is designed to work 'out of the box' and comes fully equipped with the apps most people need. Linux Mint is a community-driven Linux distribution based on Ubuntu (which is in turn based on Debian), bundled with a variety of free and open-source applications. It can provide full out-of-the-box multimedia support for those who choose to include proprietary software such as multimedia codecs. Compared to Ubuntu, it uses the Cinnamon interface by default, using a different, more traditional layout that can be customized by dragging the applets and creating panels. New applets can also be downloaded.

The purpose of Linux Mint is to produce a modern, elegant and comfortable operating system which is both powerful and easy to use.

Some of the reasons for the success of Linux Mint are:

    1. It works out of the box, with full multimedia support and is extremely easy to use.
    2. It's both free of cost and open source.
    3. It's community-driven. Users are encouraged to send feedback to the project so that their ideas can be used to improve Linux Mint.
    4. Based on Debian and Ubuntu, it provides about 30,000 packages and one of the best software managers.
    5. It's safe and reliable—thanks to conservative software updates, a unique Update Manager, and its robust Linux architecture.
    6. Linux Mint requires very little maintenance (no regressions, no antivirus, no anti-spyware...etc).
