The simplest way to describe Browser Security is "Software that ensures safety while browsing on as many levels as possible".

On a less poetic note, it's a windows-based web content scanner that relies on a simple server program that intercepts all traffic originating from a browser or headed for one.

What's more, Browser Security uses browsers' APIs to do its job and interact with you, the user, so there is no need for separate BHOs.

The technology is currently experimental, has a few known issues (most of them detailed in the FAQ as we get reports from the users) but still quite effective and boasting the following features:

* Totally browser independent. There's no extension or browser add-on involved.

* Antivirus protection - All the traffic is scanned with the antivirus engines before it reaches the browser. This also includes protection from exploits delivered via browser

* Antiphishing protection

* Asynchronous scanning of search results for all popular search engines. As search results are being displayed, security check results will appear next to each link and a more detailed status is displayed on mouse over

* Social Networks support - When on sites such as Facebook or Twitter, the links in page will be scanned and you'll know whether or not that girl who is now following you on Twitter is actually a secret admirer or just a spam/virus bot

* White lists, Black lists, Word filtering - You will be able to define filters based on which to permanently block whole domains, specific URLs or sites containing various types of words (with support for regular expressions)

* Ad Blocker - You will be able to filter out those annoying ads from various websites (note: the interface for configuring this feature can be a bit cryptic at this point for some)

* SSL Scanning - Browser Security will be able to intercept and scan the SSL traffic as well. Note that in this version, only the traffic from domains with signed certificates is scanned.

* URL shortening using saf.li

* Light configuration Interface: if you move your mouse to the top of your browser window while on a website, a toolbar (with auto-hide) will appear giving you access to the most common features. Absolutely everything about configuration is done in the browser
