we'll soon be releasing a new build of avast 5 Free/Pro/IS. As usual, we're making the build available for public testing before it's officially released (so far the version number is 5.0.542).

How to install it

Just run the setup executable (links above). You can either install it from scratch, or on top of an existing avast installation (installing over both 5.0.xxx or 4.8.yyy should be fine). A reboot will be required to complete the installation.

You can also directly update to this build from the previous beta (5.0.533) by simply invoking the program update feature.

What's new

Most notable improvements include:

• Solved a bug related to submission of false positives

• Improvements in the Behavior Shield (realtime antirootkit part)

• Sandbox: many functional, stability and performance improvements

• Firewall: VPN compatibility fixes (should now work even in Public zone etc)

• Firewall: solved an issue related to hang and/or crash of the afwServ.exe process

• Finally compatible with major screen readers

• Various fixes in the Outlook antispam add-in

• Right-to-left support

• Added Croatian and Arabic language packs

and the stranges think has happed, running W7 32b that when I after some upgrades ans uninstalls now running 5.0.542 I still have permanent 30 days.

First patch for 5.0.507 is 143kb this new ashBase.dll is 151kb still giving me 30d no down counting, strange :sneaky:

This didnt work on my home W7 64b. :huh:
