It’s Patch Tuesday: These are the Cumulative Update changelogs for Windows 10

It’s Patch Tuesday again, and Microsoft has released a set of updates for all supported versions of Windows 10.

 

The updates bring the following fixes and improvements:

Windows 10 version 1903 and 1903

For Windows 10, version 1903 and 1903 Microsoft is releasing KB4549951 (OS Builds 18362.778 and 18363.778) which brings the following fixes and improvements:

Improvements and fixes

 

This security update includes quality improvements. Key changes include:

 

Addresses an issue that prevents certain apps from installing if they are published using a Group Policy Object.

 

Security updates to the Microsoft Scripting Engine, Windows App Platform and Frameworks, Windows Cloud Infrastructure, Windows Virtualization, Microsoft Graphics Component, Windows Kernel, Windows Media, Windows Shell, Windows Management, Windows Fundamentals, Windows Virtualization, Windows Storage and Filesystems, Windows Update Stack, and the Microsoft JET Database Engine .

 

This release also contains updates for Microsoft HoloLens (OS Build 18362.1057) released April 14, 2020. Microsoft will release an update directly to the Windows Update Client to improve Windows Update reliability on Microsoft HoloLens that have not updated to this most recent OS Build.

Windows 10 version 1809

For Windows 10 1809, Microsoft is releasing KB4549949 taking the OS to Build 17763.1158.

Symptom Workaround
After installing KB4493509, devices with some Asian language packs installed may receive the error, “0x800f0982 – PSFX_E_MATCHING_COMPONENT_NOT_FOUND.”
  1. Uninstall and reinstall any recently added language packs. For instructions, see Manage the input and display language settings in Windows 10.
  2. Select Check for Updates and install the April 2019 Cumulative Update. For instructions, see Update Windows 10.

Note If reinstalling the language pack does not mitigate the issue, reset your PC as follows:

  1. Go to the Settings app > Recovery.
  2. Select Get Started under the Reset this PC recovery option.
  3. Select Keep my Files.

Devices on a domain might be unable to install apps published using a Group Policy Object (GPO). This issue only affects app installations that use .msi files. It does not affect any other installation methods, such as from the Microsoft Store. To mitigate this issue, manually install the app on the device.

We are working on a resolution and will provide an update in an upcoming release.

For Windows 10, version 1709,  Microsoft is pushing out KB4550927, taking the OS to Build 16299.1806.

For Windows 10 Version 1703, Microsoft is pushing out KB4550939, taking the OS to build 15063.2346.

This security update includes quality improvements. Key changes include:

  • Addresses an issue that causes a memory leak in the LsaIso.exe process when the server is under a heavy authentication load and Credential Guard is enabled.
  • Addresses an issue with running klist.exe that causes lsass.exe to stop working and generates an access violation error (0xC0000005).
  • Addresses an issue with merging Windows Defender Application Control policies that sometimes generates a duplicate rule ID error and causes the Merge-CIPolicy PowerShell command to fail.
  • Security updates to the Microsoft Scripting Engine, Windows Kernel, Windows App Platform and Frameworks, Microsoft Graphics Component, Windows Media, Windows Management, Windows Fundamentals, Windows Core Networking, Windows Update Stack, and the Microsoft JET Database Engine.

After installing KB4467684, the cluster service may fail to start with the error “2245 (NERR_PasswordTooShort)” if the group policy “Minimum Password Length” is configured with greater than 14 characters. Set the domain default “Minimum Password Length” policy to less than or equal to 14 characters.

  • Device may display the error "Failure to configure Windows updates. Reverting Changes. Do not turn off your computer" after installing the update.
  • Devices on domains may fail to install apps published using GPO. Affects only app installations that use .msi files. (mitigation: manual install) (only affects Monthly Rollup)
