In the latest Windows 10 19H1 Insider Build Microsoft has managed to give us a sneak peek at some improvements to the Windows 10 Command Console, which is used by the Command Prompt and also some Windows SubSystem on Linux consoles.

 

As can be seen in the screenshot above, posted by Jen Gentleman, the new console it pitch black, including the chrome. You could say the black is so extreme your eyes simply slide off it, almost as if light just seems to fall into it.

Jen also posted a pre-updated version to make the changes clearer.

The dark mode is activated by your theme choice in the Windows 10 Personalization Settings.
