It is free software and therefore free to download, use and distribute. The goal is to produce a vendor-independent office suite with ODF support and without any copyright assignment requirements. I don't think it is as secure as LibreOffice in accordance to my experience. The main reason is they don't patch the bugs and vulnerabilities as frequently as LibreOffice.Also, if you need more productivity, then I'd suggest you to opt for LibreOffice instead of WPS Office.
