Mozilla: no more Windows 64-bit builds of Firefox

Now I also have doubts whether this is true - it's less than 48 hrs. since the (x64-bit) V20 was released. :think:

I was reading the bugzilla page, and it seems no date of discontinuation is finalized yet. It can be days, weeks, or even couple of months. It is likely that 64-bit being discontinued and 64-bit users being moved to 32-bit builds will happen on the same time.

Ehm... I'm using Waterfox also... does this stop too ?! :huh:

Waterfox ftw... fast like hell!! :w00t:

As I've posted above, this has nothing to do with Waterfox. Waterfox is an independent Firefox based browser, which takes and modifies the code itself.

Thanks DKT27... ^_^

Do you know how to change language in Waterfox ?!

I don't. But you can try Firefox method.

Options > Content tab > Languages > Select Language to add > Move Up.

Options > Content tab > Languages > Select Language to add > Move Up.

No that's only for choosing your preferred language for displaying pages.. I mean Waterfox itself, the file, edit,View, History etc ?!

EDIT: I found this solution: http://www.overclock...0#post_14383710

Gonna try it out then.. ^_^

Hahaha! I always dislike the way they changed numbers up so quickly... Full number, for me, is an entirely new code of program, some big change, or whatever... And now they slap their fans in both cheeks... Not nice...

It makes no difference, I don't get the reason for the uproar. There is no difference between a 32 bit app and a 64 bit app other than it's ability to allocate memory pages exceeding 2GB. Aren't you the same people who complain when Firefox uses too much ram? Why do you want it both ways? A web browser does not need to use anywhere near 2GB worth of memory pages so 64 bit is pointless, anything else you hear is probably what they call snake oil.

Useful fact: I had 30 tabs of chrome open with pages I was using for a research project and I decided to minimise to take a break and play a game and as soon as I loaded up the game windows claimed all my ram was full. I only have 4GB so when I checked the problem was chrome, each tab is a separate process and hogs like 50-100MB per tab depending on the page content. ROFL Chrome = fail... Firefox is still the best browser overall, especially for multitasking.

I second that. Except antivirus suites and photoshop like huge softwares, x86 is more than enough.

Thank you. And regardless of anything else, both Waterfox & Pale Moon (as well as FF x64 itself) perform WORSE than FF x86 in many areas.

This thread is not suitable for 86-bit Users of Firefox - we already use that iteration alongside our 64-bit Firefox (as a secondary browser.) :mellow:

I think you're right. I tried out Palemoon and found it actually took longer to load some sites than FF. I'm just gonna stick to FF

Testing with Windows 7 and then with Windows 8, I've got both the V20 and the V17 using the same profile and add-ons, as well - the x64-bit Firefox scorches the trail and makes it's handicapped younger cousin eat humble pie. :showoff:

BTW, it's time for many members here, to check-in for a reformat. :sneaky:

Per newsgroup discussion. Please stop building windows 64 builds and tests. This includes the following subtasks, which I'm not filing specific bugs on but you may want to break these out:

* stop building win64 nightlies

* repatriate existing win64 nightly users onto win32 builds using a custom update

* stop doing win64 "hourly" builds on mozilla-central and other branches

* disable the win64 option in try/trychooser

This bug is not the place to argue about this decision, which has already been made. If there is critical data which you think should be heard about this decision, please post it to mozilla.dev.apps.firefox.
