  1. Google Stadia game streaming service adding over 100 games in 2021 Today Google announced that their newest round of games readied for Stadia will be among “more than 100 games” that’ll be added to the platform in the year 2021. Per Google, more than 100 games will be added to the Stadia store “in 2021”. This doesn’t necessarily mean that all the games will be strictly 100% new to the world, but they’ll certainly be new to Stadia. Today Google also featured a set of 7 new games that’ll be appearing on Google Stadia soon. They include Hellpoint from Cradle Games, Street Power Football by Maximum Games, Killer Queen Black by Liquid Bit, Judgement by Sega of America, Kaze and the Wild Masks by SOEDESCO, FIFA 21 by EA SPORTS, Shantae: Half-Genie Hero Ultimate Edition by WayForward, Shante: Risky’s Revenge – Director’s Cut by WayForward, and It came from space and ate our brains by Triangle Studios. The Shantae games will be released on February 23, 2021. The Half-Genie Hero Ultimate Edition game will be an all-inclusive version of the game that’s appeared on other platforms before. This version has all previously released DLC, too. Kaze and the Wild Masks looks incredible. This game’s Stadia appearance was revealed back in September of 2020, but the game won’t be released until March of 2021. This is a 90’s inspired platformer with wild colors and modern-looking pixel art. Judgement will be released in April – that’s a very adult-looking sort of game with plenty of blood. Street Power Football looks like the most unique piece of action on the list. That’ll be “coming soon” from Maximum Games, and it’s going to be hyped UP. Stadia will deliver a wild line of games in the year 2021, including titles like Hello Engineer and Far Cry 6. Stadia has a full list of already-available games ready to roll at Stadia dot com – and we’ll let you know what’s up for what’s next! 2. Amazon's new CEO plans to 'hang in there' on game development In a leaked email he said success sometimes takes time. Mike Blake / reuters Incoming Amazon CEO Andy Jassy is reportedly committed to the idea of the company continuing to make games, even as it has yet to release one that is either commercially or critically successful. “Some businesses take off in the first year, and others take many years,” he wrote in an email obtained by Bloomberg. “Though we haven’t consistently succeeded yet in Amazon Game Studios, I believe we will if we hang in there.” Jassy is said to have sent the email one day before Amazon announced he would take over as CEO of the company once Jeff Bezos leaves the post later this year. The timing of the message is significant for a couple of other reasons. At the end of January, Bloomberg published a report that detailed some of the failings of Amazon Game Studios, narrowing in on the inexperience of its head, Mike Frazzini, who had never worked on a game before he took the position. News of the email also comes in the same week that Google announced it was shutting down its internal Stadia game studios. Given the billions Amazon has spent on creating its own games with little to nothing to show for it, it would be hard to blame Jassy for wanting to throw in the towel. How he feels about Amazon’s gaming prospects once he takes over as CEO will likely depend a lot on how its upcoming MMO performs. After multiple delays, New World is currently scheduled to come out sometime this spring. Source: Amazon's new CEO plans to 'hang in there' on game development
  3. 10 great games to play on your new 2020 VR headset Enjoy your virtual reality gaming If you received a virtual reality gaming headset this holiday season, congratulations! Whether you’ve got the newly released Oculus Quest 2, one of the last few units of the now discontinued Oculus Rift S, or another headset like the PlayStation VR, there are a ton of video games for you to explore with your new head mount display. Here are ten games I personally enjoy and think are worth your time and money. We’ve rounded up our favorite and most-used games, apps, and entertainment. Check out our app picks for iPhones, Android phones, Windows PCs, and M1-equipped Macs; our favorite mobile games from Apple Arcade and Google Play Pass; and our top choices for gaming PCs, the PS5, Xbox One and Series X / S, Nintendo Switch, and VR. We’ve also listed our favorite streaming shows on Disney Plus, Hulu, ESPN Plus, and Netflix; some great sci-fi books; and exciting new podcasts. (Note: pricing was accurate at the time of publishing but may change.) HALF-LIFE: ALYX Half-Life: Alyx Image: Valve Yeah, it’s not Half-Life 3. But the fact that Half-Life: Alyx even exists is truly a blessing and is a great addition to the Half-Life franchise. Set five years after the events of Half-Life 2, you control Alyx, who is tasked with taking a super weapon that belongs to an alien empire. STAR WARS: SQUADRONS Star Wars: Squadrons Image: EA When I was a little girl, I always wanted to pilot an X-Wing. I thought it was so cool to be soaring through space and blasting Tie Fighters out of the sky. So when EA announced that Star Wars: Squadrons would have VR support, I knew I could finally fulfill my childhood dream. It’s a very difficult game, and you don’t need a VR headset to play. But it’s also a very rewarding game that fully immersed me when I strapped on a virtual reality headset. REAL VR FISHING Real VR Fishing Image: Miragesoft When I was growing up on the eastern shore of Maryland, fishing was (and is) a very popular activity in the summer. There’s something great about casting your line with a cold drink in hand while on the water, and the challenge and patience it takes to reel in a fish. Now that it is winter, I needed something to fill the void until the warmer season returns once again, and Real VR Fishing does not disappoint. VOID RACER: EXTREME Void Racer: Extreme Image: Coplanar Games Void Racer: Extreme is a sci-fi racing game that gives me the same adrenaline rush that I get from games like Wipeout or Sprint Vector and combines it with an aesthetic like that seen in the film Tron. If you are looking for a fast-paced racing game and love sci-fi vibes, this is the game for you. DREAMS Dreams Image: Media Molecule Sure, there are no true PS5 games released yet, but the PlayStation VR still has a solid library of PS4 titles that you can check out, including Media Molecule’s 2020 game creation title Dreams. It’s not a video game in the traditional sense — it's more of a game about creating games. Dreams strongly encourages players to embrace their creative side, and you would be surprised by what type of user-generated content you can create. REZ INFINITE Rez Infinite Image: Enhance Experience Rez Infinite is a techno-fueled shooter with sublime and trippy graphics that is truly a breathtaking experience. It’s released on practically every virtual reality gaming headset, which makes it very accessible to play. BEAT SABER Beat Saber Image: Beat Games Although Beat Saber was originally released in 2019, this is still one of the best VR games around, and it’s one that every VR headset owner needs to experience. A rhythm game where you use lightsaber-like drumsticks to slice through musical beats? You can’t beat that. The game has also expanded to a slew of content packs, which include original songs and some licensed songs from bands like Linkin Park and BTS. VR SHOOT AROUND VR Shoot Around Image: BoninblueDesignLab Among the many things I missed this year because of the pandemic is sports. Namely, the ability to go to a basketball court and shoot some hoops. After some asking around, I heard about a really decent VR simulation title called VR Shoot Around, and it did not disappoint. Oh, and did I mention this game is only $5? TROVER SAVES THE UNIVERSE Trover Saves the Universe Image: Squanch Games Like a few games on this list, Trover Saves the Universe was not released in 2020 (though it was released this year for the Oculus Quest). Developed by Squanch Games, this game is one of the goofier titles available on VR headsets. And if you are a fan of Rick and Morty, you will surely get a kick out of this game — in fact, it was created by Justin Roiland, one of the co-creators of that series. PIXEL RIPPED 1995 Pixel Ripped 1995 Image: ARVORE Immersive Experiences Like its predecessor, Pixel Ripped 1995 is a love letter of sorts to the decade it is set in: the ‘90s. It’s a sequel to Pixel Ripped 1989 and will make anyone who grew up during the 16-bit or 32-bit era of gaming feel nostalgic. Source: 10 great games to play on your new 2020 VR headset
  4. 'Just Cause 4' and 'Rocket Arena' are December's other freebies for subscribers. Worms Rumble promises to be a fresh spin on the classic Worms blueprint. Instead of turn-by-turn strategic combat, it plays out in real-time with up to 32 players in battle royale or deathmatch modes. It'll land on Steam, PlayStation 4 and PS5 on December 1st, and PlayStation Plus subscribers will be able to claim it for free until January 4th. Launching a game on PS Plus has proven pretty successful for some other multiplayer titles, in particular Rocket League and Fall Guys. So there's every chance that Worms Rumble (which has PC cross-play support) could take off too. The nostalgia factor won't hurt its chances either. Given that you'd need a PS Plus membership to play online anyway, it seems a solid inclusion on Sony's list of upcoming free games. PS Plus members will be able to claim two other titles next month: Just Cause 4 and 3v3 shooter Rocket Arena. In the meantime, you have until November 30th to snag the current PS4 offerings, Hollow Knight: Voidheart Edition and Middle-earth: Shadow of War. Although Sony recently said "it is our goal to add PS5 games regularly to the monthly games lineup,” there are no free PS5 exclusives this time around. However, PS5 owners can access a horde of PS4 games through the PS Plus Collection. They can also claim the super-charming Bugsnax for free through PS Plus until January 4th. Source
  5. Sony cleared up details about 1440p output, PlayStation Now and much more in an FAQ. It’s finally launch week for the new generation of consoles and Sony has cleared up a ton of lingering questions about the PlayStation 5 in an exhaustive FAQ. It covered a lot of ground but perhaps the biggest takeaway is that PS5 games will be region-free. So, you won’t have to worry about whether games you import from another country will run on your new, oddly-shaped console. PlayStation 4 games were also region-free. It shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise that the PS5 will support the PlayStation Now service. Although the PS5 won’t run PS3, PS2 or original PlayStation game discs, at least there’s still a way for you to dive back into a library of older games on the console. Sony has long claimed the vast majority of PlayStation 4 games will work on PS5 with very few exceptions. Some Ubisoft games may not run on the console either, but the details are unclear. Cross-generation multiplayer will work by default. “Whether you’re playing a multiplayer PS4 game on your PS4 or PS5 (via backward compatibility), you will be able to play with other players on either console for the same game,” Sony wrote. It’s up to developers whether a PS5-specific version of their game will allow you to play with a friend who has the PS4 version of it. As for PlayStation Plus, Sony confirmed you’ll still get two free PS4 games per month for the foreseeable future. “It is our goal to add PS5 games regularly to the monthly games lineup,” the company said. PS Plus subscribers who have a PS5 will be able to claim Bugsnax for free starting this week. There’s also a number of PS4 classics you can claim through the PlayStation Plus Collection. There won’t be any other color schemes for the console at launch, but variants of the DualSense controller will eventually be available. You can’t expand the internal SSD storage at launch — you’ll have to wait for a software update that adds support for certain M.2 SSD drives — though you can run PS4 games from an external USB drive, and “explorations” are under way for using USB drives as cold storage for PS5 games. Although the PS5 will eventually be able to output resolutions at up to 8K, it doesn’t support 1440p, which might come as a disappointment if you have a 1440p monitor. Those looking to put console at the center of their home theater should note that its HDR support is limited to HDR10 — no Dolby Vision or HDR10+ here, while on the audio side it’s missing Dolby Atmos. The PS5 won’t have a dedicated web browser either, which may not be a huge blow considering how terrible the browser was on PS3 and PS4. The FAQ is well worth reading if you’re interested in the PS5. It covers a vast range of other topics, including the specs, Remote Play and compatible accessories. Source
  6. The revamped Master Chief Collection also hits next-gen the same day. Halo 4, the first game in the series developed by 343 Industries, is making its way to Windows PCs on November 17th, Microsoft announced today. The remastered version of the game will be the final addition to the Master Chief Collection, which was released last year and has slowly added new Halo entries since then. Perhaps more important for many gamers though, that remastered bundle of games is also hitting the Xbox Series X and Series S on November 17th as well. So at least you’ll have some Halo to play as you wait for Halo Infinite to arrive next year. As arguably the weakest game of the series, Halo 4 hasn’t been a game that I’ve been eager to revisit. But it may be worth another look now with slightly better graphics performance. You can buy it outside of the $40 Master Chief Collection, but really the best way to get it is as part of Microsoft’s Game Pass subscription. If you’re a PC gamer that’s looking to dive into the series, consider checking out ODST after you’ve plowed through the original trilogy. It’s unlike any other Halo entry yet, and it has a sublime soundtrack to boot. Source
  7. Nvidia reveals the next PC games to get ray tracing, including World of Warcraft: Shadowlands DLSS is also coming to some titles like Mount and Blade II: Bannerlord (Image credit: Blizzard) Nvidia has announced the next dozen PC games which will benefit from either ray tracing or DLSS, or indeed both of those features in most cases. That includes Cyberpunk 2077, of course, and other high-profile games which we already knew had ray tracing and DLSS coming; namely Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Watch Dogs: Legion. World of Warcraft: Shadowlands was also announced as getting ray-traced shadows when it (hopefully) comes out in November (and of course, we’ve already seen the power of ray tracing in the beta, as of August). Mount and Blade II: Bannerlord was also revealed as getting not ray tracing, but DLSS support in November, to help it run more slickly. Further revelations included Ghostrunner (the cyberpunk action slasher) being set to get ray-traced reflections and shadows, plus DLSS support when it emerges on October 27. And 3D platformer Pumpkin Jack will benefit from ray-traced reflections and shadows, along with enhanced lighting and also DLSS, when it comes out at the end of the week on October 23. Enlisted and more Enlisted, the massively multiplayer squad-based World War II shooter, will be graced with ray-traced global illumination and DLSS in its beta test come November, and action RPG Mortal Shell will also get ray-traced shadows and DLSS next month. First-person shooter Ready or Not will have ray-traced reflections and shadows, as well as ambient occlusion, plus DLSS support when it launches in early access on Steam later in 2020. Finally, action role-player Xuan-Yuan Sword VII will get ray-traced global illumination plus DLSS (on October 28), and turn-based JRPG Edge of Eternity (currently in beta) will receive DLSS support in November (via an update). Nvidia reveals the next PC games to get ray tracing, including World of Warcraft: Shadowlands

  9. These are the PS5 games that are coming to PC as well More than half of the 26 PS5 titles announced will also be available on PC (Image credit: Sony) More than half of the games announced for the PlayStation 5 will also be made available to PC gamers. While many of the 26 PS5 games announced at yesterday’s launch will be exclusive to the space age-looking console, including Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Horizon sequel Horizon Forbidden West, more than half of the new titles will also be coming to PC. This bumper list includes Project Athia, which Square Enix originally said was "designed exclusively for the PS5". However, while no release date has yet been announce, the company has since confirmed that the otherworldly adventure game will also be available on PC. Hitman 3, the dramatic conclusion to IOI’s Hitman series, will also be available on PC when it's released in January next year, as will Capcom’s Resident Evil 8: Village. Below of the full list of PS5 games that will be released on PC: Bugsnax Deathloop Ghostwire: Tokyo GodFall Goodbye Volcano High Hitman III JETT: The Far Shore Kena: Bridge of Spirits Little Devil Inside Oddworld: Soulstorm Pragmata Project Athia Resident Evil VIII Solar Ash Stray While this is good news for those who prefer a custom gaming setup, along with those who think the PS5 looks more like a Wi-Fi router than a high-spec gaming console, not all of these games will be available on Steam. As reported by KitGuru Bugsnax, Solar Ash, Godfall, JETT: The Far Shore, Kena: Bridge of Spirits and Oddworld: Soulstorm will be, as it stands, available exclusively on the Epic Games Store. All the other titles however have been confirmed for Steam – except for Hitman 3 and Project Athia which have yet to confirm which PC stores they'll be coming to. As well as announcing showcasing 26 new game trailers during its PS5 reveal event on June 11, Sony also gave us our first official glimpse at its next-generation console, which will launch later this year in two variants: the standard PS5 and the PS5 Digital Edition. These are the PS5 games that are coming to PC as well
  10. Spider-Man, Ratchet and Clank, Gran Turismo, and more are coming to PS5 Horizon, Hitman, Demon's Souls and more round out PS5's software debut. First image of article image gallery. Please visit the source link to see all 9+ images. Nearly three months after laying out some of the PlayStation 5's technological underpinnings, Sony today offered its first extended look at actual games running on the upcoming hardware during a live event. The event started off with a glimpse of an "expanded and enhanced" version of Grand Theft Auto V, which is coming to the PlayStation 5 in 2021, in case you need an excuse to buy the game again. PlayStation 5 owners will also get GTA Online free at launch in 2021, while PS4 owners of GTAV will get $1 million in monthly online GTA Cash every month until the PS5 version launches. A follow-up to last year's Spider-Man featuring Miles Morales will be hitting the PS5 in 2020's holiday season. "A hero is just someone who doesn't give up," an unseen narrator says over the footage. "Your dad said that. He was right. Now it's your turn. Go be a hero, Miles." Though the footage shown is tagged with a "captured on PS5" tag (and a "Be greater, be yourself" slogan), it's unclear if the game will also be available on older PS4 systems. Polyphony Digital's Kazunori Yamauchi says a new PlayStation 5 Gran Turismo "should make fans very happy, especially with campaign mode." The game looks very much like a graphically enhanced edition of the racing simulation we've known and loved for decades. Ratchet and Clank are back for more madcap run-and-gun mayhem in Rift Apart, a game that seems focused on warping quickly between dimensions that are randomly collapsing in on one another. The trailer shows the duo riding dragons, facing pirates, sliding down futuristic buildings, and more. And one dimension even features a female member of Ratchet's species, which is sure to satisfy a particular type of fan. Square Enix and Luminous Productions are designing Project Athia "exclusively for PlayStation 5." It's sold as a game "where resolve will be tested, truths will be questioned, and devotions will be doubted, she will rise." The "she" here is a woman with a flowing cape and the ability to jump really quickly and far between some exquisite rocky ledges amid giant, fire-breathing dragons. Annapurna's Stray seems to be the story of a cat stuck in a city filled with humanoid robots. Look for it in 2021. Housemarque and PlayStation Studios are working on Returnal, a new PS4 exclusive franchise focused on reliving an endless cycle of death amid a crash on an alien planet. "Each time I awake, this planet seems somehow different," the protagonist says, suggesting something of a roguelike randomization element. "Even death is no escape... My only hope is to break the cycle before the cycle breaks me." Sackboy returns LittleBigPlanet's Sackboy will star in A Big Adventure on the PS5. An isometric platformer that's very reminiscent of Super Lucky's Tale at a glance, the trailer shows off family-friendly, four-player simultaneous action. Destruction Allstars looks to be a Rocket League-style arcade driving competition that focuses more on destruction and explosions than hitting a ball around. Colorful, Overwatch-style characters can also leave their cars for melee combat and rocket jumps. The developers at Ember Lab promise that Kena: Bridge of Spirits features "themes of personal growth and redemption." The action-adventure gameplay looks to involve small fuzzy creatures solving puzzles and attacking enemies, along with a magical staff that can bring new growth back to destroyed land. First image of article image gallery. Please visit the source link to see all 9+ images. A fully animated 2D trailer follows bird-like creatures dealing with self-doubt and big drama in Goodbye Volcano High. "Sometimes I feel like I'm just on the edge of great things," the narrator says. "Something's holding me back. Maybe it's just nerves. Maybe it's the fear I'll never be as good as what I imagine... But if we've got nothing else to lose, might as well jump." Look for it in 2021. Lorne Lanning returns to the land of Oddworld for Soulstorm, a game he says he's been "dying to make," where "Rescuing is rewarding, dying is devastatingly hilarious." Abe is back, after having led his race out of slavery. But now, he learns, "you may have escaped, but the fate of your entire people depends on you." Brief glimpses of gameplay show intense 2D platforming, large explosions, and apparent control of multiple characters at once. GhostWire: Tokyo will let players "see, hear, and feel the charm of Tokyo in a way you've never experienced before," according to its creator. The supernatural thriller features ghostly, faceless enemies and plenty of magical effects emanating from a pair of hands in a first-person perspective. It's coming in 2021. Superbrothers' The Far Shore goes on sale in 2020's holiday season, and it evokes feelings of loneliness and isolation amid years-long space journeys to desolate planets. Also for 2020, Gearbox and Counterplay Games are bringing Godfall, which looks to be a generic fantasy slasher with a driving hip-hop soundtrack in its trailer. Solar Ash, coming in 2021, evokes Hyper Light Drifter in its gravity-bending, day-glo visuals. The game tells players that "the void is calling," then leaves your long-caped protagonist (you) to skate across colorful vistas. Hitmen, Octodads, and Astro Boys Judging by its trailer, Hitman 3 is unsurprisingly going to involve a lot of sneaking up on people and killing them. "Death awaits" in January 2021. In Astro's Playroom, the happy-go-lucky characters of Astro Bot return for a new platformer that looks like it doesn't require a VR headset this time around. NBA 2K21, coming in fall 2020, looks to be, by all indications, a basketball game. The makers of Octodad invite you to the island of Bugsnax, an adventure that seems focused on pieces of food that get up and walk around like insects. The trailer features an absolutely adorable tiny strawberry that gets up and crawls around saying "Starby" all the while. It's coming in 2020's holiday season. A brand-new Demon's Souls game features giant dragons and limp corpses hanging from their talons in roughly equal measure, judging by the trailer. Some breathtaking fog effects sit over a world being engulfed in darkness, featuring the usual rogue's gallery of armored knights, reanimated skeletons, and the like. Bethesda Softworks' Deathloop is a first-person shooter focused on "rival assassins caught in a time loop." There's a real Dishonored vibe to the action, with telekenetic powers and old-school weaponry on display in equal measure. "Every loop I'm learning a little more, piecing together a little bit more of the puzzle," the protagonist says over the trailer. But "eventually, inevitably, I will break this fucking loop." Zero Resident Dawn "His story comes to a close" in Village, 2021's addition to the Resident Evil series. After the trailer opens with a creepy tale about a little girl who gets lost in the woods, we see flashes of a horrific monster stalking an older man in a wooden shack. Next: the ornate castles, snowy forests, and undead people in out-of-date couture. The confusing trailer concludes with Chris Redfield showing up to apologize to Ethan. Pragmata, a brand-new IP from Capcom, features a heavily suited astronaut rescuing a little (seemingly robotic) girl and her holographic cat, then getting flung onto the Moon somehow. The teaser hints that they're struggling to return to Earth. The software presentation concluded with Horizon: Forbidden West, featuring Aloy heading west to "a far-future America." She rides across beaches, climbs snowy peaks, trudges through deserts, and talks about stopping more ecological calamity, of course. "There's nothing I wouldn't do to save this world," she intones. "If I fail, there will be no one else to stop what's coming." The usual giant mechanical beasts look more detailed than ever this time around. Sam Machkovech contributed to this report. 11. Microsoft confirms mod support for Microsoft Store games on PC Microsoft has officially announced that the Xbox (Beta) app for Windows 10 PCs is now enabling support for mods in games that choose to do so. The feature was spotted last week, but Microsoft has now made it official, along with a short list of supported games. As previously reported, Microsoft isn't offering its own mod distribution platform, and instead, it's using a "bring-your-own-mod" approach, so you can download your mods elsewhere and apply them to supported games. The company has also provided a list of games that are available through the Microsoft Store that already support mods, including DiRT Rally 2.0, Farming Simulator 17, FTL: Faster Than Light, Into the Breach, and MudRunner. Microsoft says it's working with its partners to bring mod support for more games over time, and it looks like the free-to-play Phantasy Star Online 2 already supports them as well. There's also a video guiding you through the process of enabling and using mods in a game of your choice: In addition to mod support, the latest version of the Xbox (Beta) app moves on from Electron to React Native, another change that had been previously reported. While it was already known that it would offer better performance, Microsoft has specified that memory usage should be down to about a third of the previous version of the app. Additionally, Microsoft is also working to improve download speeds for Microsoft Store games on PC, and some regions may already be seeing those benefits. It may take some time for them to be more broadly available, though. Microsoft confirms mod support for Microsoft Store games on PC
