	<span style="font-size:20px;"><strong>Microsoft is planning to kill off Windows 10 in 2025 – does this confirm Windows 11?</strong></span>
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Rumors are swirling that Microsoft will announce a new version of Windows, potentially called Windows 11, imminently, and its plans to stop supporting Windows 10 by October 14, 2025 appear to confirm this.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	On Microsoft’s Windows 10 Home and Pro Lifecycle Policy page, the company states that it will “continue to support at least one Windows 10 Semi-Annual Channel until October 14, 2025.” Underneath, it then lists the retirement date of “Windows 10 Home and Pro” as “10/14/2025”.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	That looks like pretty clear evidence that Microsoft will kill off Windows 10 in 2025. If the company no longer updates an operating system, it usually means that the operating system is essentially dead, and users will be encouraged to move to a successor.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p style="text-align:center;">
	<img alt="iHYTjuyCE7DevhSeFsUAN3-970-80.png.webp" class="ipsImage" data-ratio="57.22" height="306" width="720" src="https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/iHYTjuyCE7DevhSeFsUAN3-970-80.png.webp" />
</p>

<p style="text-align:center;">

</p>

<p>
	<strong>Does this mean Windows 11 is real?</strong>
</p>

<p>
	<br />
	In recent weeks, Microsoft has been talking about ‘the next generation of Windows’, and the company will be having a special event on June 24 to explain what it means. This has led many to believe that Windows 11 will be revealed, and Microsoft has been fanning the flames of those rumors, with cryptic posts and hints that could hint at Windows 11. The fact that the event starts at 11am ET, for example, has convinced many people that Windows 11 is real.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	All this sudden talk of Windows 11 surprised us, as around Windows 10’s launch, Microsoft said that it would be the “last version of Windows”. Since its launch in 2015, Microsoft had stuck to that, releasing major updates to Windows 10, rather than whole new operating systems, like it used to do.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	However, now that Microsoft has unveiled that Windows 10 will be retired in 2025, it looks like it won’t be the final version of Windows after all, and that makes Windows 11 (or whatever it will be called) even more likely.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	<strong>What’s next for Windows 10?</strong>
</p>

<p>
	<br />
	So, what does this mean for Windows 10? Microsoft certainly won’t be dropping it soon, even if Windows 11 releases. For a start, it’ll want to give people time to migrate over to the new operating system, and as we’ve seen with how slow people have been to upgrade from Windows 7, that process can take years.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	We should also see a few more major updates for Windows 10 as well. According to the lifecycle page, Windows 10 version 21H1, which just launched, will be supported until December 13, 2022. That obviously means there will be almost three years after that until Windows 10 is retired completely.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	We know that Windows 10 21H2, also known as Sun Valley, is coming later this year, and this is set to be a big update for the operating system. That will likely be supported until 2023, so we will see at least one more major Windows 10 update, and maybe even as many as four if Microsoft continues its habit of releasing two big Windows 10 updates every year.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	The Windows 10 editions being killed off in 2025 are Home, Pro, Pro Education and Pro for Workstations. Those last two editions could cause trouble, as many businesses and educational institutions rely on them (as well as Pro), and they may not be happy about having to migrate all of their devices to a new operating system.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	If they kick up enough of a fuss, it may make Microsoft reconsider its plans – as this has happened in the past.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	So, while Microsoft is planning to kill off Windows 10 in 2025, it may not spell the end for the operating system.
</p>

	<span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>Linus Torvalds tells kernel list poster to 'SHUT THE HELL UP' for saying COVID-19 vaccines create 'new humanoid race'</strong></span>
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	<strong>'Any Linux discussion list isn't going to have your idiotic drivel pass uncontested from me'</strong>
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Linus Torvalds has used some of his strongest language in years to smack down a Linux Kernel Mailing List poster who made some odd remarks about COVID-19 mRNA vaccines.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	The incident started in a Linux Kernel Mailing List thread titled “Maintainers / Kernel Summit 2021 planning kick-off” that commenced in April 2021.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Event organisers have decided the event should be virtual this year. However, some in the thread have used the thread to ask if increasing vaccination rates mean that decision could be revisited.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	A poster using the name “Enrico Weigelt, metux IT consult” weighed in with the following opinion on COVID-19 vaccinations.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p style="margin-left:40px;">
	<strong>I know *a lot* of people who will never take part in this generic human experiment that basically creates a new humanoid race (people who generate and exhaust the toxic spike proteine, whose gene sequence doesn't look quote natural). I'm one of them, as my whole family.</strong>
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	In response to a suggestion in the thread that the COVID-19 pandemic is far from over, Weigelt responded “Pandemic ? Did anybody look at the actual scientific data instead of just watching corporate tv ? #faucigate”.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Torvalds’ response lacks some of the crudeness that got him into trouble in 2018 when the kernel development community politely insisted he stop abusing colleagues on mailing lists. Torvalds apologised, took a break, participated in empathy training and has been notably restrained on the LKML ever since.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	But he made an exception for Weigelt, opening his riposte as follows:
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p style="margin-left:40px;">
	<strong>Please keep your insane and technically incorrect anti-vax comments to yourself.</strong>
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	“You don’t know what you are talking about, you don’t know what mRNA is, and you're spreading idiotic lies,” Torvalds’ post continues. “Maybe you do so unwittingly, because of bad education. Maybe you do so because you’ve talked to ‘experts’ or watched youtube videos by charlatans that don’t know what they are talking about.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	“But dammit, regardless of where you have gotten your mis-information from, any Linux kernel discussion list isn’t going to have your idiotic drivel pass uncontested from me.”
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Torvalds then proceeds to explain that mRNA can’t create a new race and exhorts Weigelt to educate himself and rely on credible sources of information.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	He concludes his post as follows:
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p style="margin-left:40px;">
	<strong>And if you insist on believing in the crazy conspiracy theories, at least SHUT THE HELL UP about it on Linux kernel discussion lists.</strong>
</p>

<p style="margin-left:40px;">

		Nvidia's newest graphics card, the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti, <a href="https://www.neowin.net/news/nvidia-rtx-3080-ti-is-here-more-expensive-than-previously-rumored/" rel="external nofollow">launches today</a> and alongside it team green has released the Game Ready WHQL driver version 466.77 which adds support for the new card. The driver carries over most of the same game optimizations that were added with the previous <a href="https://www.neowin.net/news/nvidia-46663-driver-delivers-support-for-the-rtx-3080-ti-chivalry-2-and-more/" rel="external nofollow">version 466.63</a>. But it does carry support for The Persistence, which recently gained <a href="https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/1140100/view/3005569403393090987" rel="external nofollow">Nvidia's DLSS upgrade</a>.
	</p>

	<p>

	</p>

	<p>
		The driver claims to fix a blue screen of death (BSOD) related to error causeds by DPC Watchdog violation in older Kepler and last-gen Turing GPUs. There are also a few more fixes and all of them have been listed below:
	</p>

	<blockquote>
		<ul>
			<li>
				[Crossfire HD]: Freestyle is not supported for the game. [200734448]
			</li>
			<li>
				[Kepler/Turing GPUs]: Blue-screen crash with DPC Watchdog Violation error may occur. [3321668/3321735]
			</li>
			<li>
				[VR]: If the GPU is connected to a 4K UHD TV, the system may freeze when launching a VR game. [3313315]
			</li>
			<li>
				[RTX 20 series][GTX 16/10 series][HDMI]: 4K @ 120Hz display mode is not available from display settings. [3312401]
			</li>
		</ul>
	</blockquote>

	<p>
		The known issues related to Windows 10 are the same as the earlier version. They are:
	</p>

	<blockquote>
		<ul>
			<li>
				[NVIDIA Ampere GPU]: Colors may appear incorrect in games if sharpen Freestyle filter is used with HDR enabled. [200658208]
				<ul>
					<li>
						This issue will be resolved in the next NVIDIA driver release.
					</li>
				</ul>
			</li>
			<li>
				[HDR]: Some specific HDMI displays might show some flickering in HDR mode. [200729987]
				<ul>
					<li>
						If you experiencing flickering issues, reboot the system.
					</li>
				</ul>
			</li>
			<li>
				[World of Warcraft: Shadowlands]: Random flicker may occur in certain locations in the game [3206341]
			</li>
			<li>
				[Batman Arkham Knight]: The game crashes when turbulence smoke is enabled. [3202250]
			</li>
			<li>
				[Steam VR game]: Stuttering and lagging occur upon launching a game while any GPU hardware monitoring tool is running in the background. [3152190]
			</li>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Microsoft released a new Edge Dev build yesterday, but they left out one of the new features from the official changelog.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Microsoft has delivered some improvements to the Edge Immersive Reader feature, which strips a page of distracting elements such as unnecessary graphics and ads and improves the reading experience.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	<img alt="immersive-reader-new-fonts-gif.gif" class="ipsImage" data-ratio="75.10" height="463" width="720" src="https://mspoweruser.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/immersive-reader-new-fonts-gif.gif">
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Microsoft has added additional fonts to the feature, and users can now select between Calibri, Sitka, and Comic Sans which should further improve the experience for those using it for accessibility purposes.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Microsoft has also added a new flag to Edge called Auto Immersive Reader, which would automatically load a page in Immersive Reader mode for eligible pages.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Currently, there does not appear to be a way to control which pages are affected, but Microsoft is still presumably developing this feature.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	The improvements are currently available in Edge Canary and Edge Dev and should come to the mainstream version of Edge in a number of weeks.

		Today's launch of PeaZip 8.0 marks another milestone release after the release of <a data-wpel-link="internal" href="https://www.ghacks.net/2019/12/02/archive-manager-peazip-7-0-is-out/" rel="external nofollow">PeaZip 7.0 in 2019</a>. If you have used PeaZip before, you may notice the new style menu and icons in the status bar. The main goal of the developers was to make the look and feel of the program easier to change, e.g. when switching from list mode to viewer mode to preview images.
	</p>

	<p>

	</p>

	<p>
		Another useful addition in PeaZip 8.0 is the option to customize the default action when opening supported file types. Besides the option to extract the content of the archive in the archive's folder, actions are supported to open the archive in PeaZip, or to open the full extract menu instead.
	</p>

	<p>

	</p>

	<p>
		The option is found under Settings &gt; Archive Manager in the program window. Just select the menu next to "default action on start-up" and pick one of the available choices to make it the new default action for all supported archive types.
	</p>

	<p>

	</p>

	<p>
		Development focused on making under the hood changes in PeaZip 8.0. The developers list plenty of improvements in the <a data-wpel-link="external" href="https://peazip.github.io/changelog.html" rel="external nofollow" target="_blank">changelog</a>, from improving handling of the TAR format and how container files are managed in regards to browsing and conversions, to improving the program's search, preview functions, new scripts option and more.
	</p>

	<p>

	</p>

	<p>
		Archive file format support increased to a total of 218 different formats, with .xappx format and several Open Packaging Conventions filetypes (.3mf, .vsdx, .mmzx, .aasx, .slx, .scdoc) added to the list of supported file types.
	</p>

	<h3>
		Closing Words
	</h3>

	<p>
		PeaZip is a well-designed application for Windows to create and extract file archives. Version 8.0 improves the application further without making changes that would drive part of the user base away.

			Oh, great.
		</p>

		<p>

		</p>

		<p>
			Microsoft is going to upend Windows again. Just great.
		</p>

		<p>

		</p>

		<p>
			Come June 24, according to Microsoft, the company will unveil or display or reveal all or something or not much at all about the "next generation" of Windows, whatever it'll be called — say, Windows 10 21H2, Windows 10 something-something, Windows 11, Windows 12 or ... wait, we just got a massive headache. We need to lie down for a bit.
		</p>

		<div id="editorialfakesidebardiv">

		</div>

		<p>
			Scuttlebutt — one of the most underrated words in the English language — has been bubbling for months about Microsoft's next stab at Windows, at least concerning its user interface (UI) changes, the project dubbed "Sun Valley." Whether there will be substantial under-the-hood alterations or modifications, or a slew of new features and functionality, hasn't been made clear, even by those predisposed to speculate.
		</p>

		<p>

		</p>

		<p>
			What is known? How about this: Microsoft put down a marker six years ago when it called Windows 10 "the last Windows ever." Renege on that and there will be some very angry commercial customers.
		</p>

		<p>

		</p>

		<p>
			Why? Because Microsoft make an unspoken pact with those customers. In return for abiding a dramatic break with tradition and adopting (and adapting to) the very disruptive every-six-months update tempo of Windows 10, customers believed they would never again face the enormous task of mass migrations to a drastically different OS gestalt and the then-necessary retraining of workers on a brand new OS — something they had been forced to do since at least the 1990s every three or four or five or even six years.
		</p>

		<aside id="">

		</aside>

		<p>
			(The interval varied depending on how long businesses stuck with a single SKU; long stretches for the better-built operating systems, such as Windows 95, Windows XP and Windows 7; shorter spans, if any at all, for the losers like Windows 98, Windows Vista and Windows 8.)
		</p>

		<div id="sponsoredfakesidebardiv">

		</div>

		<p>
			So when Microsoft starts throwing out phrases like "most significant updates ... of the past decade" — a historical span that encompassed not only Windows 10's introduction in 2015 but also the even-more-radical Windows 8, failure though it was, that debuted in 2012 — one can't help but wonder what they're thinking in Redmond.
		</p>

		<aside id="">

		</aside>

		<p>
			What, exactly, might Microsoft do? We've assembled some possibilities, and what they may mean for enterprises relying on Windows.
		</p>

		<h2>
			Take it and just shut up
		</h2>

		<p>
			Scenario: Microsoft decides that everyone, including those running Windows 10 Enterprise and Windows 10 Education, receive the new-whatever-it-is Windows immediately.
		</p>

		<p>

		</p>

		<p>
			Such a situation would be in keeping with Microsoft's long tradition of forcing customers to kowtow, and Windows 10's more specific don't-ask-questions philosophy where updates have been offered with, at some point, no option to decline.
		</p>

		<p>

		</p>

		<p>
			Here, businesses that manage their Windows environments will be able to decide when to deploy the new OS (if that's what it really is) as usual by deferring (or not) via Windows Update for Business (WUfB), Windows Server Update Services (WSUS), Endpoint Manager's Configuration Manager, and the like.
		</p>

		<aside id="">

		</aside>

		<p>
			Assuming the "new" Windows takes the spot that would have gone to Windows 10 21H2, customers will be able to defer a refresh only as long as their current version remains in support.
		</p>

		<figure>
			<p>
				<a href="https://images.idgesg.net/images/article/2021/06/figure-1-100891800-orig.jpg" rel="external nofollow"><img alt="Windows timelines" border="0" data-imageid="100891800" data-license="IDG" data-original="https://images.idgesg.net/images/article/2021/06/figure-1-100891800-large.jpg" data-ratio="48.06" loading="lazy" width="720" src="https://images.idgesg.net/images/article/2021/06/figure-1-100891800-large.jpg"></a>
			</p>

			<p>
				IDG/Gregg Keizer
			</p>
		</figure>

		<p>
			To continue to run pre-2021 Windows 10 as long as possible, admins should migrate to 20H2, last year's second-half refresh (if they haven't already). Once on 20H2, administrators can string out its lifespan as long as they dare, then deploy to a newer version — albeit also a "new" Windows — using their standard toolset.
		</p>

		<p>

		</p>

		<p>
			If they've been upgrading annually, they could do that in this case (shown as the red arrow in in the image above) by shifting to the 21H2 version (or whatever it's called). Alternately, admins could jump to the next 18-month version, 22H1 (blue arrow) or toss the dice and opt for 22H2. The latter would be preferable because it would be supported for 30 months but the transition between 20H2 and 22H2 might be tough for some firms, as there would be only a few months — six, maximum — of overlap between the end of 20H2 and the beginning of 22H2.
		</p>

		<p>

		</p>

		<p>
			If Microsoft pulls this, Microsoft's prime customers will have until May 9, 2023, Windows 10 20H2's support-all-gone date, before they have to face the new bling. After that date, it's either go unsupported or deal with the changed Windows, whatever it is.
		</p>

		<h2>
			Okay, we'll let you have Windows 10 one last time
		</h2>

		<p>
			Scenario: Microsoft takes pity on enterprise and splits the second-half Windows release into two options, one that lets commercial customers keep running the "normal" Windows 10 for an additional year.
		</p>

		<p>

		</p>

		<p>
			According to a report by <a href="https://www.windowslatest.com/2021/06/06/microsofts-doc-sheds-light-on-upcoming-windows-10-versions/" rel="external nofollow" target="_blank">Windows Latest</a>, a since-altered support document hinted at two releases this fall. One, claimed the outlet, would be a traditional minor update/upgrade to Windows 10 delivered as 21H2 to enterprises. A second would be the new Windows, which would be handed out only to consumers, say those running Windows 10 Home, and perhaps also unmanaged Windows Pro devices.
		</p>

		<p>

		</p>

		<p>
			By providing a Windows 10 21H2 minor update this fall, Microsoft would let Enterprise users postpone the new Windows reaching Windows 10 Enterprise users. 21H2 won't get its retirement papers until sometime in the first half of 2024, like April or May. Take a look at this image; we've marked 21H2 with a red rectangle.
		</p>

		<figure>
			<p>
				<a href="https://images.idgesg.net/images/article/2021/06/figure-2-100891802-orig.jpg" rel="external nofollow"><img alt="Windows timelines, figure 2" border="0" data-imageid="100891802" data-license="IDG" data-original="https://images.idgesg.net/images/article/2021/06/figure-2-100891802-large.jpg" data-ratio="48.33" loading="lazy" src="https://images.idgesg.net/images/article/2021/06/figure-2-100891802-large.jpg"></a>
			</p>

			<p>
				IDG/Gregg Keizer
			</p>
		</figure>

		<p>
			From 21H2, customers would bite the bullet and accept the new Windows, whether that's earlier (upgrading to 22H2, shown by the red arrow in Figure 2) or later (migrating to 23H2, the violet arrow).
		</p>

		<p>

		</p>

		<p>
			The difference between this scenario and the first we laid out is 12 months, the difference between 20H2's and 21H2's end-of-support deadline. If Microsoft offers something similar, enterprises will have almost three years from today to prep employees for the new, if not so final, version of Windows.
		</p>

		<h2>
			Knock yourself out ... turn off the new if you want
		</h2>

		<p>
			Scenario: Microsoft provides group policies that allow corporate admins to switch off individual changes to Windows New or disable the complete UI/UX makeover.
		</p>

		<p>

		</p>

		<p>
			At times, Microsoft is remarkably lenient when it comes to enterprise customers, letting them block aspects of even the current Windows 10 using group policies deployed to an organization's PCs (or just some of those PCs). Other times, notably when it upgraded Internet Explorer back in the day, it even offered "block kits" that temporarily kept the newest version from being offered PCs.
		</p>

		<p>

		</p>

		<p>
			While it would be presumptuous to assume that Microsoft will allow customers to create a split Windows, one version for all except those versed in group policies, in perpetuity — why would Microsoft cede ultimate control of what Windows represents to customers? — it's possible that the firm would do so for a short stretch.
		</p>

		<p>

		</p>

		<p>
			It's hard to see how Microsoft would let such policies live for long, though; if it wanted to give enterprises a long-term solution, it would provide Windows 10 21H2 to Enterprise/Education customers, thus giving them until early 2024 to deal with the new UI/UX. A year, perhaps, might be more aligned with Microsoft's general philosophy toward enterprise customers: Give them time to get things sorted out, but refuse to back off what it believes is best.
		</p>

		<h2>
			You want Windows 10? Fine, but you get nothing new. Ever
		</h2>

		<p>
			Scenario: Maybe it's no coincidence that Microsoft plans to launch the <a href="https://www.computerworld.com/article/3608930/microsoft-slashes-windows-10-long-term-support-by-half.html" rel="external nofollow">next Long-term Support Channel (LTSC) edition of Windows 10 in the second half of the year</a>.
		</p>

		<p>

		</p>

		<p>
			In many ways, Windows LTSC — originally it went by LTSB, for Long-term Support Branch, but don't ask — is what many enterprise admins may want most if Microsoft radically changes how Windows looks and works. Unfortunately, Microsoft has hobbled LTSC by denying support to Office 365's locally-installed applications and more recently, halving LTSC's support from 10 to five years.
		</p>

		<p>

		</p>

		<p>
			Desperate admins may reach for LTSC to put off UI/UX changes to Windows, assuming that this year's release — which hasn't been assigned a name, so it could be marked as either 2021 or 2022 — draws content from the current Windows 10, say 21H1 or even 20H2.
		</p>

		<p>

		</p>

		<p>
			Microsoft would have to relax restrictions it's put into place on LTSC, notably the exclusion of support for Office 365's applications, to make it a credible alternative to Nadella's "most significant updates" due this fall. What are the chances of that happening?
		</p>

		<p>

		</p>

		<p>
			Don't bet on it.
		</p>

		<p>

		</p>

		<p>
			If Redmond went this route, though, it could give enterprises a way to run Windows-as-they-understand-it until, say, late 2026.

	Microsoft's teasing spawns theories about upcoming Windows event
</h1>

<div>
	<p>

	</p>

	<p>
		Ever since Microsoft announced its upcoming Windows press event, fans have been analyzing every piece of content they create. This has led to some interesting theories, collected below, about the next version of Windows.
	</p>

	<p>

	</p>

	<p>
		In the fall, Microsoft is releasing a new feature update codenamed "<a href="https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/microsoft/windows-10-sun-valley-everything-you-need-to-know/" target="_blank" rel="external nofollow">Sun Valley</a>," believed to be a significant upgrade for Windows 10, with new modern features and a refresh of the user interface.
	</p>

	<p>

	</p>

	<p>
		This feature update is expected to be released in Fall 2021 as Windows 10 21H2 or the Windows 10 Sun Valley update.
	</p>

	<p>

	</p>

	<p>
		During the Build 2021 conference, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella confirmed that he and other employees have been internally testing a new version and said that a "significant update" would be revealed soon.
	</p>

	<p>

	</p>

	<p>
		"Windows brings together all developer and collaboration tools in one place. It lets you choose the hardware you want, works with Linux and Windows as one, and has a modern terminal," Nadella said during Build 2021 conference.
	</p>

	<p>

	</p>

	<p>
		On June 2nd, the Windows Twitter account tweeted an announcement about an upcoming press event where Microsoft will announce 'what's next for Windows.'
	</p>

	<p>

	</p>

	<p>
		"Join us June 24th at 11 am ET for the #MicrosoftEvent to see what’s next. <a dir="ltr" href="https://t.co/kSQYIDZSyi?amp=1" rel="external nofollow" role="link" target="_blank">https://msft.it/6015VATZz</a>," <a href="https://twitter.com/Windows/status/1400125115765907458" rel="external nofollow" target="_blank">tweeted</a> Microsoft.
	</p>

	<p>

	</p>

	<p>
		This tweet included a video of light streaming into a room through a Window logo as the stream of light slowly crosses the room. While the Window logo has a crossbar, it is not reflected in the stream of light, which eventually forms what appears to be the number eleven.
	</p>

		</div>
	</div>

	<p>

	</p>

	<p>
		With the event at 11 am and the video forming what appeared to be the number eleven, people immediately thought that Microsoft was hinting that Windows 11 would be announced.
	</p>

	<p>

	</p>

	<p>
		To take things to the next level, someone overlaid a protractor over the final frame in the video to show that the floor outside the window was also angled 11 degrees.
	</p>

	<div>
		<figure>
			<img alt="11° on Window logo background" data-ratio="60.09" src="https://www.bleepstatic.com/images/news/Microsoft/Windows-10/feature-updates/sun-valley/teasing-event/11-degrees.jpg">

	</div>

	<p>
		Out of nowhere, Microsoft today posted a video to the official <a href="https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCVGOyzms_XJNk_DHqrffXCw" rel="external nofollow" target="_blank">Windows YouTube channel</a> called 'Windows | Startup Sounds – Slo-fi Remix.'
	</p>

	<p>

	</p>

	<p>
		In what appears to be Microsoft teasing everyone, the video is exactly 11 minutes long and shows pleasing images of clouds and valleys, believed to be the Sonoma area from Windows XP, with a background mix of slowed startup sounds.
	</p>

	<p>

	</p>

	<div class="ipsEmbeddedVideo" contenteditable="false">
		<div>
			<iframe allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="113" src="https://nsaneforums.com/applications/core/interface/index.html" width="200" data-embed-src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/fMr4Qm5ZWrI?feature=oembed"></iframe>
		</div>
	</div>

	<p>

	</p>

		As the video is precisely eleven minutes long, people once again believe that this is another hint that Windows 11 will be announced in a few weeks.
	</p>

	<p>

	</p>

	<p>
		"Microsoft shows a teaser of the Microsoft logo forming an 11, then leaks an image of the same logo, but with an angle of 11º, it now shows a video of 11 minutes in length and the event is at 11hrs (thanks @NightrollAx) Is Windows 11 coming?,"  reads a <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fMr4Qm5ZWrI&amp;lc=Ugz09tMTAK1XT1ikXrd4AaABAg" rel="external nofollow" target="_blank">YouTube comment</a>.
	</p>

	<p>

	</p>

	<p>
		Furthermore, a mistakenly published Windows document change indicated Microsoft considers 'Windows 10' and 'Windows Sun Valley' different major versions of Windows. This could mean Microsoft is moving to a macOS-like naming scheme.

	<p>
		While everyone could just be reading into these images and videos too much, including us, it could also be Microsoft gleefully toying with everyone as they prepare for the press event.
	</p>

	<p>

	</p>

	<p>
		Unless something significant leaks, we will have to wait until June 24th to know for sure.

		Microsoft Teams seems to be experiencing a bug since this morning. A recent update seems to have caused a "Select a certificate" prompt to be displayed to Teams users before they can use the software. The issue shows up when the service tries to reach us-prod.asyncgw.teams.microsoft.com while signing into the service. The prompt displays to users even before they can log in to use the software.

	<p>
		Microsoft Teams users in Brazil, Costa Rica, APAC, EMEA, and EU are reported to be receiving the errors. However, Microsoft says only those users served through the infrastructure in North America are affected. Some users have been able to use the service by restarting the Microsoft Teams client.

However, the company also said that there would be "no changes to Dark Sky for iOS" at that time.
	</p>

	<p>

	</p>

	<p>
		In 2021, we see that there is a small update to the Dark Sky blog that appears to be adding a new shuttering date for the Dark Sky iOS App, API, and website. Adam Grossman, the co-founder of the Dark Sky weather app, wrote:
	</p>

	<blockquote>

		We hear this news shortly after <a href="https://www.neowin.net/news/apple-announces-ios-15-with-notification-improvements-new-facetime-features-and-more/" rel="external nofollow">Apple announced an overhaul to iOS' inbuilt weather app during WWDC</a>. While the wording on the website doesn't explicitly say that the service will be "shut down" per se, it does seem that it is reaching its end of life.
	</p>

	<p>

	</p>

	<p>
		Previously, the Dark Sky website was scheduled to shut down in August 2020 while the API was scheduled to for the same at the end of 2021. Not Windows 11? New Windows 10 name scheme hinted in Microsoft docs
</h1>

<div>
	<p>

	</p>

	<p>
		Microsoft may have mistakenly leaked that the upcoming next generation of Windows 10 will move away from its current naming scheme and switch to a macOS scheme using geographic locations or development names.
	</p>

	<p>

	</p>

	<p>
		When Microsoft releases new major versions of Windows, it has historically changed the number associated with the version. For example, Windows 7 &gt; Windows 8 &gt; Windows 8.1 &gt; Windows 10.
	</p>

	<p>

	</p>

	<p>
		Last week, Microsoft announced a press event on June 24 where they will "unveil the next generation of Windows."
	</p>

	<p>

	</p>

	<p>
		Microsoft's Panos Panay tweeted a teaser video with this announcement showing what appeared to be sunlight streaming through a Windows logo to show a number 11.
	</p>

	<p>

	</p>

	<div class="ipsEmbeddedVideo" contenteditable="false">
		<div>
			<iframe allow="autoplay; fullscreen; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="360" src="https://player.vimeo.com/video/559187391?app_id=122963" title="Windows 11 teaser video from Microsoft?" width="640"></iframe>
		</div>
	</div>

	<p>

	</p>

	<p>
		Due to this, many thought that <a href="https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/microsoft/microsoft-hints-of-upcoming-windows-11-reveal-later-this-month/" target="_blank" rel="external nofollow">Microsoft might be dropping hints</a> that the next version is Windows 11.
	</p>

	<p>

	</p>

	<p>
		Regardless of the name, we know that the next major version of Windows 10 is currently codenamed '<a href="https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/microsoft/windows-10-sun-valley-everything-you-need-to-know/" target="_blank" rel="external nofollow">Sun Valley</a> .' Unlike the past few feature updates, it is a massive release with new modern features and an updated user interface.
	</p>

	<h2>
		Leaked metadata may point to a new naming scheme
	</h2>

	<p>
		When Microsoft updates their website documentation, they publish the changes on their GitHub repository.
	</p>

	<p>

	</p>

	<p>
		As first reported by <a href="https://www.windowslatest.com/2021/06/09/microsoft-accidentally-confirms-windows-sun-valley-update/" rel="external nofollow" target="_blank">Windows Latest</a>, Microsoft recently changed the HTML meta description for the public '<a href="https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/application-management/" rel="external nofollow" target="_blank">Windows application management</a>' page to use the following description:
	</p>

	<blockquote>
		<p>
			"Learn about managing applications in Windows 10 and Windows Sun Valley."
		</p>
	</blockquote>

	<div>
		<figure>
			<img alt="Reference to Windows 10 Sun Valley in Microsoft documentation site" data-ratio="24.31" src="https://www.bleepstatic.com/images/news/Microsoft/Windows-10/versions/sun-valley/microsoft-docs.jpg">
			<figcaption>
				Reference to Windows 10 Sun Valley in Microsoft documentation site<br>
				Source: Windows Latest
			</figcaption>
		</figure>
	</div>

	<p>
		After realizing they mistakenly added 'Windows Sun Valley' to the page's metadata, they quickly changed the meta description to "Learn about managing applications in Windows 10."
	</p>

	<div>
		<figure>
			<img alt="GitHub commit showing the removed reference to Windows Sun Valley" data-ratio="70.56" src="https://www.bleepstatic.com/images/news/Microsoft/Windows-10/versions/sun-valley/microsoft-github-change.jpg">
			<figcaption>
				GitHub commit showing the removed reference to Windows Sun Valley<br>
				Source: BleepingComputer
			</figcaption>
		</figure>
	</div>

	<p>
		This leak is Microsoft's first public reference to the Windows 10 Sun Valley update. However, the way it was written also indicates that Microsoft considers Windows 10 and Windows Sun Valley to be significantly different, rather than just an update to Windows 10.
	</p>

	<p>

	</p>

	<p>
		It may also indicate that Microsoft is moving to a new naming scheme for the Windows operating system similar to macOS.
	</p>

	<p>

	</p>

	<p>
		For example, macOS Catalina &gt; macOS Big Sur &gt; macOS Monterey.
	</p>

	<p>

	</p>

	<p>
		While this is all speculation at this point, and we will not know for sure until the upcoming Windows event, moving to this naming scheme would make it a lot easier for Microsoft.
	</p>

	<p>

	</p>

	<p>
		As they previously stated, Windows 10 is the last version of Windows, they could continue utilizing the current code base and switch to a new naming scheme.
	</p>

	<p>

	</p>

	<p>
		By doing this, they would continue to validate their statement that Windows 10 is the last version.
	</p>

	<p>

	</p>

	<p>
		Microsoft's continued use of Windows 10 as the codebase for Windows 10 (?) Sun Valley is also indicated by <a href="https://betawiki.net/wiki/Windows_10_build_19044.1023" rel="external nofollow" target="_blank">existing enablement packages</a> that allow you to change the version number to Windows 10 build 19044, aka Windows 10 21H2 or Windows Sun Valley.

	<p>
		As promised last week, Microsoft <a href="https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/discussions/dev-channel-update-to-93-0-910-5-is-live/m-p/2431765" rel="external nofollow">is releasing</a> the first Edge 93 build to users in the Dev channel, bumping up the build to 93.0.910.5. This comes a day after version 92 was <a href="https://www.neowin.net/news/microsoft-edge-92-rolls-out-to-the-beta-channel-with-vertical-tabs-improvements-and-more/" rel="external nofollow">promoted to the Beta channel</a>. Since this is the first version 93 build for this channel, the changes are minor, the firm says.
	</p>

	<p>

	</p>

	<p>
		In addition to the features, the company is also highlighting its recent announcements, such as <a href="https://blogs.windows.com/msedgedev/2021/06/01/available-for-preview-automatic-https-helps-keep-your-browsing-more-secure/" rel="external nofollow">support for automatic HTTPS</a>, new <a href="https://blogs.windows.com/msedgedev/2021/06/02/improving-font-rendering-in-microsoft-edge/" rel="external nofollow">font rendering improvement experiments</a> that debuted in Edge 92 – hidden under a flag, and more. As for today’s release, there are a few enhancements for the browser on the Mac, which include a new button to enter Picture in Picture mode on certain videos and support for biometric authentication for viewing or auto-filling passwords, both of which are useful additions. Other enhancements include improved latency when inking on the browser and the addition of a share option in the ellipsis menu on Progressive Web Apps (PWAs) that are installed as apps.
	</p>

	<p>

	</p>

	<p>
		As is the case every week, there are also a bunch of fixes and improvements accompanying the new features. These are split into reliability improvements and fixes to address changed behavior.
	</p>

	<p>

	</p>

	<p>
		Here are the three fixes made in this release to improve the reliability of the browser:
	</p>

	<blockquote>
		<ul>
			<li>
				Fixed a crash when navigating to a website.
			</li>
			<li>
				Fixed a crash when using the profile switcher in PWAs.
			</li>
			<li>
				Fixed a crash when using Google Meet.
			</li>
		</ul>
	</blockquote>

	<p>
		The list of fixes to address changed behavior is longer and includes the following:
	</p>

	<blockquote>
		<ul>
			<li>
				Fixed an issue where certain Settings pages are blank.
			</li>
			<li>
				Fixed an issue where the Immersive Reader toolbar is sometimes blank.
			</li>
			<li>
				Fixed an issue where icons on the toolbar that have text bubbles on them, for example extension buttons, are clipped or only partially visible.
			</li>
			<li>
				Fixed an issue where pinning a website to the Taskbar sometimes fails.
			</li>
			<li>
				Fixed an issue where toast notifications from websites sometimes don’t appear.
			</li>
			<li>
				Fixed an issue where the Save/Save As buttons in the Downloads popup aren’t shown properly in certain languages.
			</li>
			<li>
				Fixed an issue on Mac where opening a new tab sometimes doesn’t scroll the vertical tabs pane to make the newly-opened tab visible.
			</li>
			<li>
				Fixed an issue where irrelevant data is saved by autofill.
			</li>
			<li>
				Fixed an issue where user-installed fonts sometimes aren’t displayed correctly.
			</li>
			<li>
				Fixed an issue where Guided Switch settings for specific websites sometimes aren’t respected.
			</li>
			<li>
				Disabled the ability to customize the site list for Guided Switch on devices that have Information Protection enforced since the functionality is broken in this scenario.
			</li>
		</ul>

		Lastly, there is the list of known issues that users should be aware of when using the offering. A few of these listed in the post have been on the list for a while, so users must already be familiar of them. Here is the complete list of known issues:
	</p>

	<blockquote>
		<ul>
			<li>
				Certain extensions such as the Microsoft Editor extension don’t work on Linux. As soon as they’re installed, they crash and are disabled. We’re currently investigating.
			</li>
			<li>
				Users of certain ad blocking extensions may experience playback errors on Youtube. As a workaround, temporarily disabling the extension should allow playback to proceed. See <a href="https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/articles/known-issue-adblock-causing-errors-on-youtube/m-p/1486882" target="_blank" rel="external nofollow">this help article</a> for more details.
			</li>
			<li>
				Some users are still running into an issue where all tabs and extensions immediately crash with a STATUS_INVALID_IMAGE_HASH error. The most common cause of this error is outdated security or antivirus software from vendors like Symantec, and in those cases, updating that software will fix it.
			</li>
			<li>
				Users of the Kaspersky Internet Suite who have the associated extension installed may sometimes see webpages like Gmail fail to load. This failure is due to the main Kaspersky software being out of date, and is thus fixed by making sure the latest version is installed.
			</li>
			<li>
				Some users are still seeing favorites get duplicated. This issue should be reduced now that automatic deduplication has been introduced into Insider channels, but we’re still rolling that out in Stable. We’ve also seen duplication happen when running the manual deduplicator on multiple machines before either machine has a chance to fully sync its changes, so make sure to leave plenty of time in between runs of the deduplicator.
			</li>
			<li>
				Some users are seeing “wobbling” behavior when scrolling using trackpad gestures or touchscreens, where scrolling in one dimension also causes the page to subtly scroll back and forth in the other. Note that this only affects certain websites and seems to be worse on certain devices. This is most likely related to our ongoing work to bring scrolling back to parity with Edge Legacy’s behavior, so if this behavior is undesirable, you can temporarily turn it off by disabling the edge://flags/#edge-experimental-scrolling flag.
			</li>
		</ul>
	</blockquote>

	<p>
		Today's Dev channel update should automatically be downloaded and installed in the background. However, users can also head into the About Microsoft Edge setting to force the browser to check for an update and pull the update from the servers if it is being made available for that device.

	New evidence Microsoft is working on an Android emulator for Windows 11

<p>

</p>

<p>
	We reported in November last year that Microsoft is working on bringing <a href="https://mspoweruser.com/project-latte-is-microsofts-plan-to-bring-android-apps-to-windows/" rel="external nofollow">Android apps to Windows 10 21H2.</a>
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	We now know of course that Microsoft will be calling that version of the OS Windows 11, and today there is new evidence of the work, with a Microsoft Principal Software Design Engineer Hideyuki Nagase doing some work to make an Android emulator run well under the Windows Subsystem for Linux.

<p>
	We have heard earlier that under Project Latte, Microsoft will allow developers to package Android apps as MSIX files and distribute them via the Microsoft Store. The apps would then run in the Android emulator.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	According to the earlier rumours, the Android subsystem will not offer the Google Play store, which does raise questions about the usefulness of all the work.

	<p>
		Microsoft is in the process of moving Microsoft Teams meeting recordings to OneDrive and SharePoint, and that is bringing a number of advantages.
	</p>

	<p>

	</p>

	<p>
		One of them is that users will soon be able to find a meeting recording based on what was said in the meeting using Microsoft Search.
	</p>

	<p>

	</p>

	<p>
		Previously, Teams meeting recordings were only searchable based on the Title of the meetings. You will now be easily able to find Teams meeting recordings based on not just the Title of the meeting, but also based on what was said in the meeting, via the transcript, as long as Live Transcription was enabled.
	</p>

	<p>

	</p>

	<p>
		Note however that only the attendees of the Teams meeting will have the permission to view these recordings in the search results and playback the recordings. These meetings will now be discoverable in eDiscovery as well, via the transcript.
	</p>

	<p>

	</p>

	<p>
		If you don’t want these meetings to be discoverable in Microsoft Search or eDiscovery via transcripts, you can turn off Teams transcription.
	</p>

	<p>

	</p>

	<p>
		The feature is rolling out in mid-June as a targetted release and late June for a standard release, with the roll-out expected to be completed by early July.

	Earlier this week, Apple <a href="https://mspoweruser.com/apple-macos-monterey-update/" rel="external nofollow">announced</a> the new macOS Monterey update with several powerful features. macOS Monterey comes with new FaceTime updates, redesigned and streamlined Safari, Universal Control, new Shortcuts app and more. You can find the full list of new features <a href="https://mspoweruser.com/apple-macos-monterey-update/" rel="external nofollow">here</a>. Even though macOS Monterey is supported on several old Macs, several new features are not supported on Intel-based Macs.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	The following features will only work on Apple M1-based Macs:
</p>

<p>

</p>

<ul>
	<li>
		Live Text in photos: Text is now completely interactive in all your photos, so you can use functions like copy and paste, lookup, and translate. Live Text works in Photos, Screenshot, Quick Look, and Safari.
	</li>
	<li>
		Interactive globe: Discover the natural beauty of Earth with a rich and interactive 3D globe, including significantly enhanced details for mountain ranges, deserts, forests, oceans, and more.
	</li>
	<li>
		Detailed new city experience: Explore cities like San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York, and London with unprecedented detail for elevation, roads, trees, buildings, landmarks, and more.
	</li>
	<li>
		Neural text-to-speech voice in more languages: The latest neural text-to-speech voices are now available in more languages: Swedish (Sweden), Danish (Denmark), Norwegian (Norway), and Finnish (Finland).
	</li>
	<li>
		Portrait mode: Inspired by the portraits you take in the Camera app, Portrait mode in FaceTime blurs your background and puts the focus on you.
	</li>
	<li>
		On-device dictation: Keyboard dictation improves as you use your device, personalizing over time. On-device dictation helps protect your privacy by performing all processing completely offline. Dictation in search uses server-based dictation.
	</li>
	<li>
		Continuous dictation: With on-device dictation, you can dictate text of any length without a timeout (previously limited to 60 seconds).
	</li>

	Vivaldi 4.0 introduces translate feature and Mail, Calendar and Feed Reader functionality
</h1>

<p>
	Vivaldi Technologies released Vivaldi 4.0, a new version of the <a href="https://www.ghacks.net/2016/04/06/vivaldi-web-browser-review/" rel="external nofollow">company's web browser</a> today. The new browser version introduces Vivaldi Translate, a p<a href="https://www.ghacks.net/2021/03/24/vivaldi-gets-a-privacy-preserving-translation-service/" rel="external nofollow">rivacy preserving translate feature</a>, and beta versions of the long-awaited Vivaldi Mail client, Calendar and Feed Reader.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	The new version is available already and most devices will be upgraded automatically to the new version. Vivaldi users who want to speed up the process may select Menu &gt; Help &gt; Check for Updates to run a manual check for updates. If a new version is found, Vivaldi will prompt to install it on the device.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	A new welcome screen displays three use scenarios to users that offer different levels of access to features. All features are always available, but the initial selection, between essential, classic and fully, determines the initial loadout of the browser.
</p>

<h3>
	Vivaldi Translate
</h3>

<p>
	<img alt="vivaldi translate feature" data-ratio="75.10" height="1183" srcset="https://mk0ghacksnety2pjrgh8.kinstacdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/vivaldi-translate-feature.png 1875w, https://mk0ghacksnety2pjrgh8.kinstacdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/vivaldi-translate-feature-1536x969.png 1536w" width="1200" src="https://mk0ghacksnety2pjrgh8.kinstacdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/vivaldi-translate-feature.png" />
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Vivaldi Translate is a major addition to the web browser. It is a translation feature that is built-in and thus comfortable to use. The technology is powered by Lingvanex and Vivaldi Technologies hosts the required servers in Iceland. Vivaldi's solution does not involve third-parties, which would be the case if Google Translate, Microsoft Translate or similar translation services would be used.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	The feature is available in all desktop and mobile versions of the Vivaldi browser. Vivaldi displays a translate icon in the interface or a prompt, depending on the preferences. A click on the icon opens the prompt if it is not displayed automatically. It includes options to translate the page to another language, with Vivaldi's system language being offered as the default. If you run an English copy of Vivaldi, English is suggested by the browser.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	You can change the language to any other that is supported and configure rules to handle specific tasks automatically. Rules include the automatic translation of certain languages or to block translations on the active site or for the language to block future prompts on that site or for that language.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	The list of supported languages is not as long as that of Google Translate or Microsoft Translate, but it covers many widely spoken languages such as English, French, German, Chinese, Japanese, Spanish and Portuguese.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Desktop users may enable or disable the automatic translation popup under settings &gt; General.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Android users who use Vivaldi on the device may translate webpages by selecting Menu &gt; Translate. Translation settings are found under Menu &gt; Settings &gt; General &gt; Language settings.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	<strong>Vivaldi Mail, Calendar and RSS Feed Reader</strong>
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	<img alt="vivaldi mail" data-ratio="75.10" height="1200" srcset="https://mk0ghacksnety2pjrgh8.kinstacdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/vivaldi-mail.png 1944w, https://mk0ghacksnety2pjrgh8.kinstacdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/vivaldi-mail-1536x1011.png 1536w" width="1200" src="https://mk0ghacksnety2pjrgh8.kinstacdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/vivaldi-mail.png" />
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	The second big feature of Vivaldi 4.0 is the introduction of the long-awaited mail client. <a href="https://www.ghacks.net/2020/11/24/vivaldi-mail-feed-reader-and-calendar-can-now-be-tested/" rel="external nofollow">It has been available</a> in snapshot releases for some time, but Vivaldi 4.0 is the first stable version of the browser with the feature.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	When Vivaldi launched back in 2016, one of the promises was that a mail client similar to the one built-into the classic Opera web browser, would be introduced. The release makes Vivaldi one of the few browsers and the only major browser that comes with built-in mail functionality.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Select the Mail option from the sidebar or Menu &gt; Tools &gt; Mail to get started. Vivaldi Mail supports IMAP and POP3, and you can add multiple email accounts to the application. The mail client supports automatic and manual setups of accounts.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	The default layout displays the interface in three columns, but you may change that and many other settings to customize the experience. The screenshot above shows a different layout with the sidebar listing of folders and mail accounts, and a split column listing messages and the selected message.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	One of the interesting features of Vivaldi Mail is its automatic detection and categorization of mailing lists, newsletters and mail threads. A click on mailing lists, for instance, displays all categorized messages making them easier to find in the application.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Read and unread messages are displayed neatly in the sidebar listing. The mail client comes with a built-in search, filters, flags, labels and more. Searches can be saved for quick access and labels can be synced. The compose window opens in a new tab in the browser.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	The feed reader is available in the mail client. The Feeds category in the mail client's sidebar lists all subscribed feeds. The reader works as expected: select a feed or all feeds, browse the available articles, and select one to read it right in the interface.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Feed subscriptions and settings are managed in Settings &gt; Feeds. There you may add new feeds to Vivaldi, delete feeds, and configure some options, e.g. the automatic detection of feeds in web pages.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	<img alt="vivaldi feeds" data-ratio="75.10" height="1200" srcset="https://mk0ghacksnety2pjrgh8.kinstacdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/vivaldi-feeds.png 1944w, https://mk0ghacksnety2pjrgh8.kinstacdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/vivaldi-feeds-1536x1011.png 1536w" width="1200" src="https://mk0ghacksnety2pjrgh8.kinstacdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/vivaldi-feeds.png" />
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Vivaldi displays a feed icon on webpages with feeds in the address bar. Select it to add one of the feeds to Vivaldi; this works for YouTube channels as well to subscribe to channels in the feed reader. Vivaldi's feed reader supports podcast feeds as well. Both YouTube videos as well as podcasts can be played in the feed reader.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	<img alt="vivaldi youtube feeds" data-ratio="75.10" height="1200" srcset="https://mk0ghacksnety2pjrgh8.kinstacdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/vivaldi-youtube-feeds.png 1944w, https://mk0ghacksnety2pjrgh8.kinstacdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/vivaldi-youtube-feeds-1536x1011.png 1536w" width="1200" src="https://mk0ghacksnety2pjrgh8.kinstacdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/vivaldi-youtube-feeds.png" />
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	An option to import an OMPL feed is not available in the interface, but you can import feeds.xml files (rename the common opml file extension to xml) by loading the file in Vivaldi.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Vivaldi Calendar Beta introduces calendar functionality in the Vivaldi Browser. Data is kept on the local system by default but users may integrate events from online calendars into the Vivaldi calendar. The feature supports CalDAV calendars and online calendars from providers such as iCloud, Fastmail or Zimbra.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	The calendar supports three different layouts: minimal, which only shows the event title, full, which shows all event data, and compact, which combines both modes but caps event text. Inline editing is supported by the calendar to quickly change event titles and start/end times.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Vivaldi Calendar Beta supports search and filter functionality, which acts similar to the functionality of the mail client. These can be saved for quick access.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	<strong>Closing Words</strong>
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Vivaldi 4.0 is a major release. It introduces the long awaited mail client, feed reader and calendar, and the translation feature.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	<strong>Now You:</strong> have you tried Vivaldi 4.0? What is your impression thus far?
</p>

		Microsoft has begun rolling out Edge version 92 to users in the Beta channel, sticking to the timeline mentioned in <a href="https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/deployedge/microsoft-edge-release-schedule" rel="external nofollow">the release schedule</a>. As is the case generally, there is no official changelog yet as the firm usually posts it later in the day. However, the version has been in testing in the Canary and Dev channels for a while now, so there is a fair bit of information on what is new. When the changelog does get posted, it <a href="https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/deployedge/microsoft-edge-relnote-stable-channel" rel="external nofollow">can be found here</a>.
	</p>

	<p>

	</p>

	<p>
		With version 92 being promoted to the Beta channel, both Dev and Beta channels users are now running the same major version. However, that is expected to change soon as the company is <a href="https://www.neowin.net/news/the-final-edge-92-build-for-the-dev-channel-is-now-out-with-a-few-new-features/" rel="external nofollow">slated to release</a> the first Edge 93 build to Dev channel testers this week. The firm does note on the <a href="https://www.microsoftedgeinsider.com/en-us/welcome/update?channel=beta&amp;version=92.0.902.9" rel="external nofollow">first-load welcome page</a> for the Beta update that there isn’t much to talk about with this latest release.

		However, the Redmond giant is detailing the various announcements from the past few weeks, including those made during <a href="https://www.neowin.net/news/microsoft-says-edge-91-will-be-the-best-performing-browser-on-windows-10/" rel="external nofollow">its Build conference</a>. As for what’s new in version 92, there are improvements to vertical tabs, with the browser now letting users turn the feature off across all open windows. Users can also choose to hide the title bar when vertical tabs are enabled.

	<p>

	</p>

	<p>
		Edge 92 also introduces <a href="https://blogs.windows.com/msedgedev/2021/06/01/available-for-preview-automatic-https-helps-keep-your-browsing-more-secure/" rel="external nofollow">automatic HTTPS </a>that switches connections to the secure protocol on sites that support it. The firm is also bringing new <a href="https://blogs.windows.com/msedgedev/2021/06/02/improving-font-rendering-in-microsoft-edge/" rel="external nofollow">font rendering improvements</a> to improve rendering at higher contrast levels. The feature is currently hidden behind a flag. Other minor improvements include enhancements to pinning History and Downloads menus, Immersive Reader additions, and improvements to PWA menus that are installed as apps on the desktop.

				Instagram chief Adam Mosseri shed some light on how the social network decides what you see in a <a href="https://about.instagram.com/blog/announcements/shedding-more-light-on-how-instagram-works" rel="external nofollow">new blog post published on Tuesday</a>. The explanation seems to be meant at least in part to combat persistent rumors that Instagram intentionally hides or disfavors certain posts, which Instagram says isn’t exactly true.
			</p>

			<p>

			</p>

			<p id="kFu2ai">
				The short answer to how Instagram works is that it’s complicated. Instagram uses “thousands” of signals to determine what you see in your feed, according to Mosseri, and there isn’t just one algorithm that decides what shows up for you. But the company is also committed to better explaining why content is taken down and how the service surfaces posts, he writes. One of the more surprising revelations: most Instagram followers won’t see your posts anyway because “most people look at less than half of their Feed.”
			</p>

			<p>

			</p>

			<p id="YVdfRz">
				Tuesday’s blog is just the first of a series that “will shed more light on how Instagram’s technology works and how it impacts the experiences that people have across the app,” for example, so it seems we can expect more detailed breakdowns in the future.
			</p>

			<p>

			</p>

			<p id="dUln4e">
				In this first blog, Mosseri explained that Instagram uses “a variety of algorithms, classifiers, and processes, each with its own purpose” to determine what to show you. He then broke down the “signals” Instagram uses to surface something in your feed or in stories. Here are the “most important” signals, “roughly in order of importance:”
			</p>

			<blockquote>
				<p id="RiSv8C">
					Information about the post. These are signals both about how popular a post is – think how many people have liked it – and more mundane information about the content itself, like when it was posted, how long it is if it’s a video, and what location, if any, was attached to it.
				</p>

				<p>

				</p>

				<p id="OVdSgZ">
					Information about the person who posted. This helps us get a sense for how interesting the person might be to you, and includes signals like how many times people have interacted with that person in the past few weeks.
				</p>

				<p>

				</p>

				<p id="yoPctI">
					Your activity. This helps us understand what you might be interested in and includes signals such as how many posts you’ve liked.
				</p>

				<p>

				</p>

				<p id="hLHXPA">
					Your history of interacting with someone. This gives us a sense of how interested you are generally in seeing posts from a particular person. An example is whether or not you comment on each other’s posts.
				</p>
			</blockquote>

			<p id="IXRPPz">
				Instagram will then predict how you might interact with a post, such as commenting or liking it. “The more likely you are to take an action, and the more heavily we weigh that action, the higher up you’ll see the post,” Mosseri said.
			</p>

			<p>

			</p>

			<p id="RtNC3M">
				Mosseri also addressed how people accuse the service of silencing or “shadowbanning” users and said the company will do a better job of explaining why content is removed. “We’re developing better in-app notifications so people know in the moment why, for instance, their post was taken down, and exploring ways to let people know when what they post goes against our Recommendations Guidelines,” Mosseri said. Instagram will have “more to share soon” on those updates.
			</p>

			<p>

			</p>

			<p id="PqnC86">
				The blog post also details the signals the company uses to show you content in the Explore tab and on Reels (Instagram’s TikTok-like video service) — which, notably, primarily show you content from accounts you don’t follow.
			</p>

			<p>

			</p>

			<p id="WtaryI">
				Mosseri’s explanation hits as Instagram is kicking off <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/CPBYK14I3nq/" rel="external nofollow">its Creator Week event</a>, designed to help creators build their brands on the platform.

<p>
	Microsoft today announced the availability of Scheduler, a new Microsoft service to make scheduling meetings easier. For example, you can say something like “Cortana, please find a time to meet next week,” or “Cortana, please find us 45 minutes in the last week of the month in the morning for Pacific time and make it a Teams meeting.” Even though Scheduler and Cortana are independent services, Cortana acts as the front end for Scheduler.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Microsoft Scheduler features:
</p>

<p>

</p>

<ul>
	<li>
		Find meeting time: Cortana will find the best time that works for everyone, both inside and outside of your organization.
	</li>
	<li>
		Send calendar invite: When a time has been found, Cortana will send calendar invites to all attendees from the organizer’s email.
	</li>
	<li>
		Coordinate across time zones: Cortana understands time zones. Because it is available 24/7, it can negotiate with attendees and find the best times across their different time zones.
	</li>
	<li>
		Email attendees: If Cortana can’t find a time that works, Cortana will email attendees to negotiate the best time option until there is an agreement.
	</li>
	<li>
		Add Microsoft Teams meetings: Cortana can schedule meetings as Microsoft Teams meetings.
	</li>
	<li>
		Reschedule meetings with ease: Conflicts always happen, just email Cortana and ask to reschedule a specific meeting.
	</li>
</ul>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Here’s how Scheduler can help people:
</p>

<p>

</p>

<ul>
	<li>
		Easily schedule a meeting with people inside your organization, with one email – With Scheduler, Cortana has access to the same information you do you when scheduling meetings, including you and your colleague’s Outlook free/busy availability without having access to any further details. This means Cortana knows when you and your colleagues are free or busy and can find the times that work for everyone without you having to peruse everyone’s availability.
	</li>
	<li>
		Skip the back-and-forth emails when scheduling a meeting with people outside your organization – Scheduler provides Cortana access only to your organization’s free/busy availability. To negotiate a meeting time with people outside of your organization, Cortana will suggest a few times when you are available to the other attendees over email. The attendees outside of your organization can accept the times Cortana proposed or suggest new times over email. Once consensus has been reached, Cortana will send meeting invites to everyone.
	</li>
	<li>
		Let Cortana manage more complex scenarios when meeting with people inside and outside of your organization – Because Cortana has access to some of the attendees free/busy availability, Cortana will find times that work for that subset of attendees and then propose those times to the people outside of the organization. Once consensus has been reached, Cortana will send meeting invites to everyone.
	</li>
</ul>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Finally, Microsoft Scheduler is the first AI service with human assistance in Microsoft 365. Even though most of the scheduling requests are completed automatically by Cortana, some instances might need human assistance. Here’s how human assistance is handled:
</p>

<blockquote>
	<p>
		If a request needs human assistance, they will have access to the email conversation from the point in which Cortana was added to the conversation, Microsoft Graph data, names, and emails of the people involved in the conversation but they will not have access to links nor attachments. Additionally, Scheduler will not process encrypted messages sent to the Cortana mailbox.
	</p>
</blockquote>

<div id="owPriceText">
	<div>
		Microsoft Scheduler costs $10.00 user/month.

		Windows 7 and 8.1 Patch Tuesday updates are now out, here's the complete changelog
	</h1>

<div itemprop="articleBody">
	<p>

	</p>

	<p>
		As is the case every month, Microsoft is releasing cumulative updates for all supported Windows versions. These include the three most recent Windows 10 versions for consumers and a few versions that are supported for specific channels and select SKUs. Windows 8.1 and Windows 7 too are receiving updates, with the latter being reserved for those who have opted to pay for extended updates.
	</p>

	<p>

	</p>

	<p>
		As usual, the updates are split into two parts – monthly rollup and security-only updates. Monthly rollup packages are automatically served through Windows Update and security-only updates can be manually downloaded through the update catalog.
	</p>

	<p>

	</p>

	<p>
		Starting with Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2, the monthly rollup is <a href="https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/5003671" rel="external nofollow">KB5003671</a> and can be downloaded manually from the <a href="https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=KB5003671" rel="external nofollow">Update Catalog here</a>. The changelog for this patch includes:
	</p>

	<blockquote>
		<ul>
			<li>
				Security updates to Windows App Platform and Frameworks, Windows Cloud Infrastructure, Windows Authentication, Windows Fundamentals, Windows Storage and Filesystems, Windows HTML Platform, and Microsoft Scripting Engine.
			</li>
		</ul>
	</blockquote>

	<p>
		As for the security-only update, that is labeled as <a href="https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/5003681" rel="external nofollow">KB5003681</a> and can be manually <a href="https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=KB5003681" rel="external nofollow">downloaded from here</a>. The list of fixes is similar to that of the monthly rollup. Here's the changelog posted by the firm:
	</p>

	<blockquote>
		<ul>
			<li>
				Security updates to Windows App Platform and Frameworks, Windows Cloud Infrastructure, Windows Authentication, Windows Fundamentals, and Windows Storage and Filesystems.
			</li>
		</ul>
	</blockquote>

	<p>
		Both updates share the same known issue that users must be aware of. Here are the problems documented by the firm:

	<p>

	</p>

	<p>
		Moving on to Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1, the monthly rollup is <a href="https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/june-8-2021-kb5003667-monthly-rollup-865921f0-fd78-4507-a438-f2b9a2a0c6e6" rel="external nofollow">KB5003667 </a>and can be <a href="https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=KB5003667" rel="external nofollow">downloaded from here manually</a>. It comes with the following fixes and improvements detailed in the knowledge base changelog:
	</p>

	<blockquote>
		<ul>

	</blockquote>

	<p>
		The security-only update is labeled <a href="https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/june-8-2021-kb5003694-security-only-update-68434340-6259-4adb-899a-2c3e117f4501" rel="external nofollow">KB5003694</a> and can be downloaded manually from the <a href="https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=KB5003694" rel="external nofollow">Update Catalog here</a>. The fixes listed in this patch are as follows:
	</p>

	<blockquote>
		<ul>
			<li>
				Addresses an issue in the Server Message Block (SMB) protocol which may cause frequent crashes with Stop error 0xA on devices that run Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 (SP1).
			</li>
			<li>
				Security updates to Windows App Platform and Frameworks, Windows Cloud Infrastructure, Windows Authentication, Windows Fundamentals, Windows Remote Desktop, and Windows Storage and Filesystems.
			</li>
		</ul>
	</blockquote>

	<p>
		Both these updates share the same set of known issues, with the renaming issue now being there on the list for a long time.
